Never understood why people like V so much. I never found a single interesting thing on the album. Now Twilight On Olympus, that's an awesome one.
Hire me. I'm talentless but malleable.

Symphony X is one of those bands whose consistent output makes it incredibly hard to rank their albums.

Iconoclast
Paradise Lost
V
Twilight in Olympus
The Odyssey
Divine Wings
Damnation Game
Symphony X

V, by far.  They did things on that album that stepped far beyond their boundaries as a symphonic power-prog band, and in doing so created a true work of art.  While most of my favourite songs are on TDWOT or TIO, V is an album where the whole is far greater then the sum of the parts.  From start to finish, that album is a seamless masterpiece of near perfect neo-classical metal, and only by listening to it in it's entirety can one truly appreciate the artistic mastery displayed on that record.  I have been awestruck by that album ever since I first discovered it over a decade ago, and listening to it today, it only sounds better with age.
