To echo what some others have said, he should work his chops back up. Neil Peart is one of his idols; why not go that route? Neil is constantly looking to improve improve as a drummer. He exposes himself to different styles of music and learns to play them, ultimately incorporating new things into his "bag of tricks". Mike has stated that he doesn't practice, doesn't try to improve his playing, and it almost sounded like bragging. IMO that's a horrible stance for any musician to take, to actually admit to no longer seeking to improve. It's exactly what he needs to do, and the timing is perfect for it. He's between regular gigs.
