Some attempts at the high remind of this for some reason

No offense at all though. Other attempts I've seen, yours is way better. Way better than I could ever do

Brilliant topic. Just because I don't have a singing voice I had to make a stereo version! I can only reach up there or higher (in falsetto of course) in the morning, later in the day I'm nowhere near it. I don't/can't sing anyway, so it's not really a problem though  :)

It takes some balls to do what you guys did.  Thanks for this!  Give me more

OP is now updated with everyone so far. If I missed yours, just let me know.

As you can hear I'm not a vocalist and I have a quite poor technique, especially when I try singing in the stratosphere...

Dude don't worry about it. This thread is supposed to be hilarious. By the way, if you noticed that I put this emote  next to your link in the OP, that was an unfortunate mistake. I must have accidentally copied and pasted it along with your link.

It's pretty much perfect, except my voice is really strained, I have a lot of trouble rising from the beginning to the end, I don't actually hit the F5, I'm completely out of tune, and I can't sing at all.

But other than that.
Sincerely,
Jaffa

Here is mine.. I think I hit the F#, I haven't practiced singing in ages. The most I sang recently was at the DT concert last night lol.

https://vocaroo.com/?media=vCnEeglixSoVTazjF

I think my mic might be busted, I turned down the volume and it still crackles.. :)

Any advice from some of the more knowledgeable here?

well, I think most of us can reach the F# in some way. But the notes leading up to the f# is quite hard because most of us have to switch registers two times or so.

Two times? Just the once really, but since it goes right through the passaggio I guess you could say it's chest voice into mixed chest-head then into pure head voice if you're doing it correctly, in which case it should sound like one connected voice (although there are often obvious tonal differences between head and chest voice).

Of course, there may be a few castratos/pre-pubescents/girls out there who can do it all in chest voice.

If I'm not wtf-pwning my larynx I'm already in mixed at the start of the run anyway since my voice wasn't really built to go that high (I can hit the F# but only by making a noise you'd use to disperse angry mobs). Thin Lizzy songs are more my register :)

He's referring to the second passagio.

When I'm doing vocal exercises I have hitted the note sometimes, but it's extremeley tough for me. I hit it using falsetto, whilst James' voice sounds natural when doing it. If one of these days I'm in the mood, I might try contribute here  :lol
