I thought it was gonna be the band performing ADTOE from start to finish in the studio (the auditions space). With incredible audio 5.1 mixing and amazing picture quality. Sort of like what Metallica did with St. Anger to introduce Trujillo and let the fans see his chemistry with the band.
Imagine it, would have been nothing short of awesome and I guess it wouldn't have costed them anything.
They probably just never thought of it.

That would be a lot harder for DT to do compared to Metallica. Rehearsing and performing an entire album of DT material live in time for a DVD to be released in time with the album would be crazy. You'd think that having just recorded the album beforehand would make it pretty easy, but for a band like DT who records in pieces, it's probably a huge ask.
JR probably takes a couple of weeks just to program all of his patches for the new songs, and to learn to play them smoothly and combine all of the parts (as of yesterday Jordan was still learning to play the instrumental section to one of the new songs).

It would have been awesome, but it would have been a lot of work, and probably not really practical for them even if they had thought of it. But I always liked the idea of that DVD Metallica did with St Anger.

Funny, I never thought it would be anything like that.

Perpetual Change

Trivium did something like that with In Waves. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm assuming it's cool.

Yeah, the ADTOE DVD kinda disappointed me. Just the same old stuff we've heard before. But honestly, I like the gatefold jackets so much better than jewell cases that it was well worth the extra dough regardless.

Good points. I can see how the recording in bits and peices thing makes the songs totally foreign to them when the album is brand new.

You just need to wait for the Special Tour Edition released in 6 months time...
