Random, arbitrary but super important poll!
« on: September 15, 2011, 11:13:02 PM »
I dunno, guess I'm bored today :loser:

What is it that you enjoy discussing with your fellow enlightened ones on the P/R side of the forum? Me, I like the economics/policy discussion; but I'm probably alone there  :-[

TBH, I don't know which will win out here.
I punch those numbers into my calculator and they make a happy face.

I like morality, because it's the only topic there that I am not ensured to get creamed at by college students.

Religion - productive dialogue is usually possible, and smarter members here act as useful resources for my own study, mainly bosk and hef (when he decides to contribute and not merely issue decrees from on high).

Philosophy, isn't that like saying "all of the above?"

What a philosophical point :D

I'm suppose what I'm getting at is more of the "airy fairy" stuff re: philosophy rather than dealing with the real world directly; not to pour shit on philosophy though.

I agree and probably including science as a component not the whole of reality.

Science.
"In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea."

I chose morality, but more broadly things which just require defined personal views rather than knowledge of the subject (e.g. my knowledge of economy is... let's say limited, so I don't post in threads that discuss it).

I went with American politics, but international relations would be just as applicable.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

Alright no responses for a couple of days; I consider this the full sample of regular P/R posters.

That was me. I read almost everything in this section of the forum, but I don't really participate that much. Mainly because discussions on economic policy always devolve into the same fundamental argument of free market vs. government intervention. In which case I'm on the free market side 99% of the time. But the discussion really goes nowhere.
