Wow, you really like that?  :lol

Well, "like" is such a strong term..... :lol
It's downright antiquated and boxy, but I just find it a lot more legible and neat than the Aero theme. So I guess it's just the lesser of two evils for me.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

I dunno, I guess Aero just never really bothered me.  I'm too busy using programs to pay it much attention, though.

I will tell you one thing for sure, though:  Aero DOES consume system resources.  In fact, on our HVAC Controls Front-End PCs that run Windows 7 we turn off ALL of the eye candy to improve the end-user experience from a speed standpoint.  And there is a noticeable difference in identical hardware, one running Aero and one with Aero disabled, but we use a big huge registry hack that one of my engineers came up with to accomplish it.

I always turn off as much of the graphic eye-candy as I can, not only because of the resources, but also because all of that smooth scrolling etc adds an unnecessary delay to basic stuff. Not a huge delay, but it's enough to bother me for certain tasks.
And I do heavy graphics work, so I need to scrounge up all the extra I can get!

Oh, yeah, that's right, I forgot what kind of work you do.

Ever try 64bit Windows XP?

Nope. You'd know much better than me, but it seemed it was a bit of a half-assed intermediate solution to me.
Until I installed Windows 7, I'd actually been using the same install of XP 32 bit for 5 years. :lol

I still have an XP 64bit machine.  It's solid.  The main problem with it is a lot of programs are kind of flaky on it.  Not sure why.  On my main machine, which is now a Lenovo ThinkPad W510 with 64bit Windows 7 Pro, 8GB of RAM and a 460GB SSD I have had zero issues with a lot of those same programs that gave me problems on the 64bit XP box.

Well, XP was always a natively 32 bit OS, and 64 bit was sorta tacked on. I personally would not run a pre-Vista OS on 64 bit, outside for personal entertainment to see how much doesn't work.
