Some of you might remember (but probably not) but I'm a huge Kenny Wayne Shepherd fan. I went to his concert last night in NYC with a friend of mine. I was waiting on line for him, and my friend walks up and says he'll BRB he's gotta talk to box office. So he comes back and waves me over to him, and he says, we're in the VIP line now!
He then says, we are going to go back stage to have a meet and greet with KWS and the band. At this point im flipping out. I'm like how did you pull this off? He made a few phone calls to some friends that he worked with on a TV show down in Louisiana where KWS is from. They filmed KWS a little bit at his kick off show rehearsal down there. So the connection was made and they set us up to go meet him!!
At first they told us we weren't on the VIP list and they had no idea about any meet and greet because there wasn't one. We started to get really disapointed. They told us to check in 15 minutes, so we did. Sure enough a new list was brought down with our name on it.
So we made our way to the VIP section. After having a drink or 2 the band walks through. The tour manager tells us to wait a minute. She then comes back out and tells us to come into the room where the band is.
Then I'm standing in this room and KWS and his singer and Tony Franklin the bass player are just hanging out. We got to talk with them and I got their autographs on my ticket (except tony, he was on the couch eating a sandwich and didn't get up) IT WAS AMAZING. I got to tell one of my biggest guitar influences that I've been playing for 12 years and that he was a major influence on me. How cool is that? I talked about their new album and some previous shows I went to. They were super cool to us! It was such a cool experience.
TLDR I MET ONE OF MY BIGGEST GUITAR INFLUENCES AS A SURPRISE FROM MY FRIEND!!!!!!
