Acoustic or electric?  More importantly, is he any good?

electric.. he is quite good, he was able to play Satch's Up In The Sky.. Iron Maiden's Losfer Words, Trooper, DT's Forsaken, Overture 1928, etc... ;)

Ha ha. Sorry dude I was just being a playful prick and glad you got the reference  ;) Very impressive that the kid can play this well. Be as supportive as you can toward his dreams without pushing him but it already sounds like you've got that down. Good luck to him.

Tender Surrender by Steve Vai. I have played that years ago at my company's talent show, and people were ecstatic. The great thing about the song is that it has such a wide range of dynamics, so it's very dramatic.
