Don't know. No one is permanent in Iced Earth though. Jon would fire himself if he could. It wont shock me at all if Stu is gone after Plagues of Babylon.

Imagining a Blabbermouth headline now: JON SCHAFFER: "Jon Schaffer fired me from Iced Earth via e-mail!"  :rollin

I really liked Sandstorm, though I agree with you on Fukushima. I would like to see what Amanda can bring to the band, but having both of them would be even better.
Yeps.

Metal titans ICED EARTH make their triumphant return with the January 21, 2014 release of new studio album, "Plagues Of Babylon", on Century Media Records. The CD was recorded at Principal Studios (KREATOR, IN EXTREMO, GRAVE DIGGER) in Senden, Germany and was mixed at NHow Studios in Berlin, Germany. Guest vocals on "Highwayman" were laid down by VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen and SYMPHONY X/ADRENALINE MOB singer Russell Allen. Guest vocals on "Plagues Of Babylon", "Among The Living Dead", "Democide", "Resistance" and "If I Could See You" are by BLIND GUARDIAN vocalist Hansi Kürsch. The cover and additional artwork was created by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ATHEIST, HATEBREED).

"Plagues Of Babylon" track listing:

01. Plagues Of Babylon
02. Democide
03. The Culling
04. Among The Living Dead
05. Resistance
06. The End?
07. If I Could See You
08. Cthulhu
09. Peacemaker
10. Parasite
11. Spirit Of The Times
12. Highwayman

Songs 1-6 form the "Plagues Of Babylon" story line, part of the ongoing "Something Wicked" Universe

Him or Russell. Stu and the Pokemon guy can vominos.

I don't remember hearing Hansi on the title track though.

Also, they're coming to Phoenix on May 1st, bringing Revamp and Sabaton. I think I'd go just to see Floor.

Wow, they are really utilizing the guest vocalist aspect.  Plus I saw that they are playing Winnipeg in May.  The venue they are playing this time around is even smaller then the previous time they played here.

Sadly, I didn't see any NC tour dates, so it's looking like I'll probably be missing out on them this time around. :(

April for Toronto.  thinking the exact same thing.  Don't know Sabaton at all, and not really an Iced Earth fan.  But, it's a venue that holds about 900 people, so I'm thinking I'll be going, and hoping for a chance to see Ms Jansen.

Would if I could too - not a big fan of Revamp tbh but I'd travel to see her sing the Yellow Pages.

C'mon Shaffer and Hansi, make a new D&W! But yeah, nice to see Russel and Hansi laying down a few guest vocals  ;D Let's hope the album is any good. I really like their last effort but the latest track was awful.

I don't know what band that was, but it wasn't Iced Earth...

Personally, i haven't been this excited for IE since i discovered the band 10 years ago! This sounds really good!

I don't hate Iced Earth. The only album I have is Framing Armageddon, and I think it's amazing. My problem with them now, though, is they have one of the most incredible and diverse metal singers, and it seems like all he gets to do is a bad imitation of Matt Barlow.

So, the dislike for their recent material makes perfect sense to me.

Most of the samples sound like the most generic Iced Earth-record ever. Poorly executed, with poor production.

The only tracks that kind of interested me was:

Resistance - sounds like Horror Show, and i like that album
Parasite - The most interersting sample ive heard from them in years
Spirit of the times - Kinda sounds like Ayreon, and i like Ayreon
Highwayman - Sounds really different!

I guess this will be a 5/10 album for me, and thats pushing it - but thats just what i got from the samples. Dystopia was OK! A step up from the last two, but still pretty dull..
If this album is at par with that I´ll be satisfied..

Zook does tend to be king negative where IE is concerned of late, but I have lost hope of the band making good music so long as Schaffer is making Stu Block be something he isn't. If I like this one it'll be a pleasant shock. But I have no problem with others liking it. Hell, maybe I'm the guy with the problem  :rollin
