I actually hate both of them at the moment.

Yes, Stu is amazing, but in IE, he is fucking awful.

True, but I doubt he really has any say in what he does in IE. If he tries to do his own thing, Jon will probably fire him through an email.

Yeah, I don't know if I even want to finish the song. The beginning is just an even more boring version of the beginning of Dystopia, and the chorus is meh as well. Obviously this song is about the Setians causing the plagues, but at this point I just don't care anymore. Jon forgot how to write thrash, or even just interesting Heavy Metal.

Yeah, it's rubbish.  I have no interest in listening to that song a second time.  I don't even know if I will buy a copy of this album.

I'm done with Iced Earth. Song was just plain dreadful. Schaffer's lost it.
The bones of beasts and the bones of kings become dust in the wake of the hymn.
Mighty kingdoms rise, but they all will fall, no more than a breath on the wind.

I just wasn't that interested to listen to the song in the first place. Intro was too long and I turned it off about half way through

I have opportunity to see IE in January but it depends on new album. I don't find Plagues Of Babylon that bad but it's far worse than their old albums. I liked few song on Dystopia, hoping there'll be good songs on the new album.

Ii quite liked the title track tbh. It wasn't great and it has no power whatsoever, like the live album. Weedy guitars and no bass. Intro goes no too long and is nowhere near interesting enough. Hmm. Maybe I didn't like it ?

Oh, and just listened to Crucible Of Man which was alot better than this song too. Yes, not good enough.

They're drinking the Kool-aid over at Samsara's Queensryche forum. Everyone likes this new song, and there is general praise for Dystopia. Am I missing something? I mean, I listened to PoB again just to see if I was, and although it wasn't the most awful thing I ever heard, it was still like a poor man's Dystopia song.

Yeah I don't know either.  Just look at the youtube comments for the song, mostly positve. WTF?

We could possibly have the worst IE in our hands in January.  This is possibly one of the most unoriginal songs I've heard from Jon.  Stu of course, sounds like shit too.

Strange...

After hearing these two new songs, i think we might have in January the strongest IE since Something Wicked This Way Comes. From Horror Show to Dystopia, the only song i honestly can say i like is Come What May.

Just my thoughts however.

^ Yeah, I actually kinda liked this performance and the other new song that came out a few weeks ago.
Beyond the limits of the mortal frame
To the farthest boundary of eternity
Where I, the Cosmic Sea
Watch the little ego floating in me.

I really like Stu on that song. Reminds me a lil' more of some emotional Into Eternity tracks.

Like I said, Jon ran out of ideas. He can't riff or write anymore. Usually he manages to pull one good song out of his ass for every record, but it's just not enough for me anymore. I got rid of Dystopia. Crucible of Man wasn't perfect by any means, but it damn sure beats the hell out of any of the new stuff. It's not just Stu either. He could sing in his natural range, but that wouldn't save these songs anymore.

Glad to be back here where I can voice my disgruntled opinion about one of my favorite bands without being warned of a ban...

ICED EARTH is ready to embark on the second leg of the Volbeat tour, which kicks off at O2 World in Berlin, Germany, tomorrow, November 6, and wraps at Forum, Copenhagen, Denmark on December 1.

As of last night, ICED EARTH also has over 400,000 Facebook fans which prompted Jon Schaffer to say the following:

“Facebook gives us the opportunity to communicate with you, the fans, unfiltered. We are proud to see how much it’s grown and how much people interact here. Thank you for your support and love for ICED EARTH. It’s like a freight train ever moving forward, and I’m sure we’ll hit 500,000 in no time.”

For the remainder of the Volbeat tour, Jon Dette will be behind the drums taking over for Raphael Saini who filled in during the summer festivals, the recording of the new album, and the club leg of the Volbeat tour.

“Raphael came in and helped us out of a tight spot this summer with a full schedule of festivals, a new album to finish, and no room for diversion on the schedule. He came in and delivered and we are very grateful for that. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours.” ICED EARTH

“When I had the chance to join Iced Earth for their summer festivals and the new album, I couldn’t say no: I was really excited even though I knew that it was going to be something temporary. I am honoured to be part of the band’s history, an amazing album, and to have worked with some supremely talented musicians. My journey will continue, there’s more to come.” RAPHAEL SAINI

It's a love hate relationship... Don't judge me.

Don't know. No one is permanent in Iced Earth though. Jon would fire himself if he could. It wont shock me at all if Stu is gone after Plagues of Babylon.

That wouldn't mean anything either since Fukushima was a pretty terrible song. Didn't think much of Sandstorm either. Plus they might just stick with the female singer.

I really liked Sandstorm, though I agree with you on Fukushima. I would like to see what Amanda can bring to the band, but having both of them would be even better.
