I'm actually surprised Troy is looking at the camera and not zoned out staring into space.

Ever since Stu joined the band, Jon has been acting more like a teenager. I don't have a problem with it, but it is kinda silly that he acts that way. I guess Stu brought out the kid in him or something..... Or he's having a mid-life crisis.

I'm hoping for something a lot more for the next studio album.  I haven't revisited Dystopia at all and I don't have an urge to either.  IE haven't impressed me since Framing Armageddon.

I fuckin love the album.... I've no problem with their music.... but this image thing is getting ridiculous ....

I'm afraid it's the latter.... the band is getting younger and younger.... chicks are most probably going for others.... and blah blah blah....

damn.... I think I'll stop following their FB page and just listen to the tunes...

Don't get me wrong, I liked Dystopia quite a lot, but it didn't quite have the lasting power for me.

Dystopia is mostly forgettable. I'm still waiting to find a used copy of the special edition at Zia. The bonus tracks are better than some of the regular tracks, but even those don't have lasting power. It has a lot to do with Stu doing the Barlow impression. He just shouldn't. It's unnecessary. Barlow wasn't trying to do a Adam or Greely impression with older tracks, and Ripper was himself as well.

Is that what Joe Pesci's been up to? Making all the decisions in Iced Earth? Well I'm not happy, Joe!

Good points.  I think that's the thing, there was nothing really memorable.  Some great stuff indeed but nothing lasting.  I wish Stu sang normally too.  I think if he was allowed to bring his Into Eternity vocal style to Iced Earth, it would have been a lot more exciting and interesting.

Well Jon will never allow growls, but his clean voice was great. If he sang Anguish of Youth (?) and End Of Innocence like Surrounded By Night, the songs would be 10 times better. Probably still forgettable though.

Rather than starting a Matt Barlow thread, I'll post this teaser here:

"Greetings all! Just wanted to give you guys a little insight into what's been going on lately. Well, though we are still in the early stages of progress, we are really excited about what we are hearing thus far. We hope that you have patience with us as we continue with this creative process and search for a record label that will help us bring our music to you all in the best way. Thanks for all your support....more to come!"

Calm down, Andy. It's not like I called him a satanist or anything.

In a good way: more lively, happy

In a bad way: flipping off the camera, forced swearing.

It's nothing serious, I'm just not used to it.

Jon Schaffer's been having a mid-life crisis since about 2002 or so.  :lol

God damn that song is hard to sing since you essentially never have a chance to catch your breath while you're singing.

Ripper and Stu have amazing metal voices. But Barlow carries WAY more emotion that the other two can't touch.

Hey that was recorded at the gig they did near me last week. Couldn't go because I had a prior commitment before I found about the show, though. :(

Wow, what the fuck is up with that audience? Totally dead.

I've decided that I honestly don't like Stu's vocals in regard to this band. After sitting on the record for a year (which I tabbed out for guitar websites) and plenty of videos to watch online, I just don't like his pseudo-Barlow voice. It's painfully false. You can listen to Matt talk and you know that that is just how he sounds when he sings. But for Stu, it's completely inappropriate. Ripper made no attempt to sound like Matt. He sang the songs in his own voice, and that is exactly what Stu should be doing. Until he radically alters his performance or (inevitably) gets fired, I can't really see myself caring about the band.
As of now, it's a really strange mish-mash on stage. The new bassist and Stu are so scrawny looking. I'm just not intimidated anymore. Remember when Iced Earth was sort of scary? When you wouldn't fuck with them? The fact that I could likely beat at least two band-members at arm-wrestling (and if you could see how scrawny I myself am, you'd giggle) just emasculates the image to me.

I'm waiting for Matt to put out his new project's release and then see Jon once again hound him to come back to the band.
Everything seems to be silly cycles with Iced Earth.
