Which show will you be attending?

DC at the 9:30 Club on Sept. 10 (and then Kamelot the night after at Jaxx in Springfield, VA - gonna be a good weekend for music)...

Aw, shucks. As you can see in my sig, I'm seeing them the 23rd. Did you get a VIP package?

I'm one of the few people who enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing them open for Iced Earth in September, although I hope that Jon's voice won't be strained when he gets to having to sing with Iced Earth thirty minutes after playing and singing for probably a good forty-five minutes.

I doubt singing Stormrider and some backing vocals would do any additional harm if he were to strain his voice. It's funny you say 'them' when the only person who will be missing is Matt. I don't know, I just find the concept of opening a concert with your side project to be rather lame and conceited. Especially billing it as a seperate band. Or I'm mistaken and Jon found some other guys to play. Hope you have a good time.

Will they really have a 30 minute break between the two bands? It's not like they have to switch out gear, Matt just has to......walk out.

Does anyone else find it the wrong decision to rerecord Framing Armageddon?  I mean, the Crucible of Man was written for Owens, and it didn't sound right with Barlow doing the super-melodic parts, and I think Framing Armageddon would be the same story, Barlow attempting an album that was meant for a completely different singer....

Jon has stated many times that he doesn't write an album for any particular singer. He hears Tim's voice when writing melodies but that's it. Crucible was not written for Owens.

I don't know... I was just saying that generally because that's what the time between sets usually is.

They aren't and haven't rerecorded Framing Armageddon. They re-did a few songs, just like they have always done. But as far as I know, the album stays as it is.

Only because SPV went bankrupt. The box set was supposed to contain all rerecorded material, even the EP with the redone Trilogy. Jon always gets the shaft.

Yeah and now the fans get shafted with an unnecessary, watered down box set.

That wasn't Jon's idea though. SPV released that on their own. A cash grab like Century Media does. That's why I find it so funny that Jon chose them again.

Century Media....uuugghhh.

I've seen so many copies of Box of the Wicked in store, I don't they will ever move them.  I'll probably buy one when they chuck them in the clearance section.

I have actually never seen that in store here in Brisbane, Australia.  Stores now stock the crappy paper sleeve versions of the albums that come from this instead of the regular jewel cases.  Glad I picked up all their albums before these where released.

The Box of the Wicked on the otherhand is everywhere.  :lol

I don't know. Iced Earth got bland eventually, but Sons Of Liberty is just got really bland after the first song I heard. It feels so directionless. I don't like the lyrics, but I'm not ruling that in. I'm just talking musically.

The riffs sound so uninspired.

Although, I'm sure you could find someone who loves the same galloping riffs and song writing style for almost every song in a 20 year period.

Fair call.  I must say, if it continues in the downward spiral from Armageddon 2, I won't be too impressed by it either.  Crucible of Man almost made me vomit.

I enjoy Sons Of Liberty, despite the fact that it's a blatant soapbox for Jon to stand on, and despite the fact that Jon is having his own band open up for him (which I will enjoy, as I enjoy both bands), and despite us basically being forced to hear the same thing over and over again, I enjoy it.

I felt like listening to Burnt Offerings, so I am  :metal

Can't wait to see and meet them in September! By the way, does anyone know if the meet and greet will interfere with me seeing Sons Of Liberty's set (inb4 lolsonsofliberty)?
