Seven Headed Whore sounds like it was nicked from Steel Panther.

Disappointed that the title The Judas Goat is nowhere to be seen.

It has always been a working title, it sounds a bit silly but after all if you think what a judas goat is (a goat trained to lead other animals to a specific destination, usually the slaughterhouse, while the goat himself is spared) it's a clever heavy metal theme.

Can't wait for this disc.  If it's like Jon says it is, in the vein of Dark Saga, SW, and Dystopia, I'll be thrilled.  Only dug about 2/3 of the last album, though they still remain my favorite band.   :metal

Yeah, the last one faded a bit for sure. I'm still skeptical of comments like Jon's (this is in vein with our most popular records! Yarr!), but it remains one of my most anticipated records of 2017! Along with Mastodon!

It's very important that you read the following statement with the voice and inflection of Daria Morgendorffer.

And here it comes the cover art!

I've seen better, but it's acceptable. I wish they'd retire Set by now, especially if there are no more songs tied to his saga.

So we'll be getting 2 new songs at the end of the month. One of them is Seven Headed Whore. It's three minutes long. I was looking forward to it based on the title, but at 3 minutes, I fear it'll be reminiscent of Boiling Point or even worse, Days of Rage.

The cover art kicks ass - that's the most realistic looking Set that they've had in the 19 years that he's been around.

I'm so glad that Stu sounds more like himself on this song and less like the somewhat forced "Barlow" range that he uses in the band.  I love the raspy, evil, higher-pitched vocals.  He sings Pure Evil like that and I've always been wanting to hear that style in the band a bit more.  Musically, it's pretty concise and Jake has a nice little ripping solo.  It reminds me of Im-Ho-Tep a little in spots, where there's some little lead guitar lines trailing over the riffs.

Cool song, with that old "thrashy" feel. Stu sounds very good, and nice solo.

Promising.

Liked most of the song quite a bit. Just didn't like the vocals on the chorus.

It's just another example of IE adding so many vocal layers to the choruses that it just lacks punch anymore. If it were a bit more stripped down there, it'd be way better.

That seems a tad unfair since the vocals don't kick in till about 30 seconds.

The production sounds a little flat but that might just be the youtube quallity.

I do like Stu doing more his own thing in the verses.  He reverts back a little in the chorus, but it's pretty decent.  Nice shredding too.

Yeah, very flat... Did that song have bass?

The song itself... A tad uninspired, but better than I feared.

Raven Wings is out

I'm gonna need a few more spins on this to really get a full opinion on it, but I dig it on first listen.

Also, while this is no surprise to me since I've been listening to the Witherfall debut for the past two months ad nausem, Jake Dreyer's already making it very clear that he's the best lead guitarist Iced Earth has ever had by a country mile. Both this track and Seven Headed Whore, if nothing else, definitely have great guitar solo sections.

Raven Wings is pretty standard and safe IE, but it's fine, could fit easily on Plagues.

Looking forward to some killer solos on this album too by the sounds of it.  Something IE have been off the mark with a lot in their career.

Yea, it's fine.

Honestly, based solely on these two songs, I think I'll skip on this album unless the rest of them are really impressive.

I'm just not invested enough in this lineup enough to put up with mediocre releases.

Witherfall is amazing. I recommend anyone here to check it out. Especially if you like what Jake is doing here in Iced Earth.  Although it does not sound like Iced Earth. It is more in the vein of Nevermore, Control Denied and Opeth. At any rate, I already purchased "Incorruptible". Both singles released are way better than anything on the last album.
