Album of the Year 1997 - nomination phase
« on: September 12, 2011, 09:18:38 AM »
Rules:
-Post your 5 favorite albums from 1997; the order does not matter.  If you only like less than 5, list those.  Just no more than 5.
-List the band name first and then the album name.  Like this: Band name - Album name
-If you change your mind, edit your original post.  Do not post them again.
-Only studio and live albums will be counted; no best of, compilations, etc.
-From this point on, any and all Dream Theater albums cannot be nominated.  Side projects featuring DT members can be.
-Posts that you do not follow these rules will not be counted.

Nomination phase will last two days.

Are we counting this as 97? The vinyl was released in 97 but the tracks were rearranged for the cd release in 98.

Personally I think this album should count for both years and it should win both.

I'm not quite sure, as for what Zander wrote, Alternative 4 was released in 1998. ;)

I was worried when I saw the lists posted so far, then I checked Wikipedia and felt better. This was a great year!

Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
The Tea Party - Transmission
Faith No More - Album of the Year
Sarah McLachlan - Surfacing
Queensryche - Hear in the Now Frontier

Honorable Mentions:

Megadeth - Cryptic Writings
Eros Ramazzotti - Eros
NOFX - So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes
Natalie Imbruglia - Left of the Middle

Note: Falling Into Infinity would have been my #1 by a mile - so, good to have the "no vote" rule for the 90s.

Actually, it was only released in the US in 1998; in Europe, Japan and everywhere else, it was 1997, so I'm counting 1997 as the proper year of release.

Good to see someone else is a Ten fan.  I have only gotten into them over the last 6 months.  The Robe is amazing, and the title track is probably my fav song from them.
