Damn good set list.  Very well-rounded.

And several rumors can be now be put to rest:

-The idea that the band would not played songs with lyrics written by Portnoy.
-The idea that the band woudn't play any of the 12-Step songs.
-The idea that Portnoy was the only one who ever wanted to play WDADU songs.
DT rules.

Now bring on Octavarium and ACOS!!!!

I think it goes without saying now that the band has no problem playing songs written by Mike Portnoy, and with the exception of The Best of Times (for obvious reasons), I don't see any song being off the table.  I doubt A Change of Seasons will become a mainstay, but I don't see it becoming one they never consider.

It would be awesome for them to eventually consider both ACOS and Octavarium as eventual encore tunes. Alternating them throughout a tour.

That'd be cool, but won't happen.  With songs that long, if Mangini takes the time (pun intended) to learn one of them, it wouldn't make sense to only play it every other night.  I just can't see them rotating two long songs like that.

Great setlist!
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Nice set list indeed!  I hope AFIL, Surrounded and 6:00 stay in if they do a second North American leg.

I am stunned by this setlist.  Mangini truly must be a machine to have learned all these extra songs over the holidays.  Since they added 2 songs to the rotation (16 as opposed to 14), is this set longer or close to length of the previous legs?

I assume the crowd did a simultaneous poop drop when Genie broke into the 6:00 drum intro, correct?

wow, DT never ceases to surprise me.
There was a very short interview with MM on a Danish music site about the European leg and MM said that "now he has the back catalogue under his belt" so it will be fun to mix in some more of the old with the new.
So to me that sounds like he has ALL DT songs down  :hefdaddy

Edit: I read it again and he does say "the whole" back catalogue!

This was a great gig for sure. When A Root Of All Evil started I almost couldn't believe my ears, they really played a song from the 12-step suite. But they should have played something else from SDOIT!

I'm lurking at a few Finnish forums where there's discussion about DT and someone will probably post the setlist so I can post it here tomorrow, unless someone does it earlier here or at setlist.fm.

Which ones? I think Octaforum is absolutely dead but I don't know any other discussion forums, maybe muusikoiden.net?
Yep, I was referring to muusikoiden.net and Imperiumi. Fortunately Zukuduku posted it already! :tup Great picks, (nothing off my 3 least favorite albums!) makes me sad that I was unable to go. :( Looks like JP and JM have had a change of heart about playing WD&DU stuff: first Ytsejam and now AFIL, I remember they were the ones who called it a terrible album! :lol I'm surprised to see The Root of All Evil in the set, they'll probably play many other MP-penned songs in the future

How did they do Root Of All Evil? Did they do the whole intro, or did they jump right into the main riff? (like on the Greatest Hit album)

I agree!  Also, unless it's going to be a 3 hour show, I say drop the drum solo.  I loved it at first, because it gave Mangini a time to shine, and prove that he was "worthy" or whatever.

Can't wait for more videos! Great to see they opened up songs for Mangini. If they do another U.S. leg I'm expecting this list but with Lost Not Forgotten and This is the Life.

Although they toured Europe before the U.S Leg it was pre ADTOE and they only got OTBOA so I can understand having the rest of ADTOE still up. They will probably swap around Silent Man/Beneath the Surface with Wait for Sleep/Far From Heaven like last tour.

Looking at the 2 forums I mentioned (https://muusikoiden.net/keskustelu/posts.php?c=44&t=203771&o=660 and https://lauta.imperiumi.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39992), it seems that people were very satisfied with the show, (except that JP reportedly did one mistake in the OTBOA solo ;D) especially James and MM's performances. JP even headbanged during Pull Me Under! :metal

Do we know already what did they do about MP vocals specially in WIMH/TTSTA?

I mean in the past summer they were just not doing MP vocals for example in CIAW...

But WIMH/TTTSTA really need the backing vocals... is JP doing them? backing track? if so, backing track with who singing in it (originally recorded?)?

Yeah! What a night!

Periphery had some technical difficulties which took about 20mins off their playtime. Crowd were screaming for drum solo during that time and the drummer gave it to us xD . The band sucked. I listened couple of songs end went for a cold one.

Dt was great. Root was played with the intro.
Labrie had this strange "cube" behind petruccis rig . He went there during instrumentsl sections. Dont really know what was in it . It was like 2m x 2m x 2m big.

Mangini had his drum solo, which i didn't care to listen that much :p so i went for a beer.
One thing that i didnt like was that sat on the right balcony. Kinda close to the stage but on upper right, so i didnt see those screens they had. I kinda saw the opening animation, but nothing more. Overall the seat was pretty good.

Security was clueless as hell. I asked one bouncer if i could take video with my nokia. He said " yeah, u can tape like couple of songs but not the whole gig" .
But on my baöcony entrance there was this old woman as bouncer and she said that if she sees me tAking video, she will instantly throw me out :D.  I saw this dude taking a picture with cellphone and this woman went to him and took him away . Im not sure if he was thrown away for that but ididnt see him after that...... Well no problem, i got like 40mins of nonshaky hd video recorded. Gonna see tomorrow if its worth uploading.

Sry if there is lots of typos and shit. Im sitting in a train typing on my ipaf

That's strange cube is hit tent, he's been having that for years. That's apparently where he chills during the instrumental breaks.

Some of the backing vocals were certainly played from a backing track. TTTSTA and BMUBMD had the high pitched sounds of James from the tape Also TROAE had some MP vocals from the backing track. I think it was MP's voice, but I am not sure.
