Yeah I just don't get it. I'm all for breast cancer awareness, but shit like this doesn't really promote awareness.
How does
"I like it on the table"
translate to
"Be aware of breast cancer"?
It doesn't, but it does get your attention. That's the point. To do something which gets people's attention. Girls know that guys are going to think about exactly one thing when girls say "I like it on the kitchen counter" or "I like it on my nightstand" and will then try to find out what it's all about. The intention is not to keep it a secret forever; it's to get everyone's attention and then say "Hey, Breast Cancer Awareness!" Ta-da! Now we're all aware and thinking about it. This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Stupid? Maybe. But it did get our attention and did get us thinking about Breast Cancer, if only for a short while.
Last year's thing with the colors was the same thing, but "color of bra" at least was related to breasts and thus a more obvious link to Breast Cancer Awareness, but maybe some girls felt weird posting. I know a few who came right out and said that that's private and no way are they posting it. This one girl I know finally posted "Okay fine. Edible leopard." I don't know if she was serious or not, but it certainly made me think about her breasts for a while.
One of my ex-girlfriends is a breast cancer survivor, and this may be crass, but she had some fantastic breasts. They're gone now, which is a crying shame, and honestly, just knowing that those beautiful breasts will never again be shared and enjoyed really does make me hope they find a cure for breast cancer.
