Anyone else have Facebook automatically post links to everything that's in your info section? Mine looks like shit now, and I can't change it.
Privacy Settings under Account in the top right corner.

It's like a whole new profile look. Apparently I'm one of the first to have it. It looks horrible, I can only add activities/bands/etc that have their own pages, and I now get updates from ALL of them in my newsfeed. 
Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with that. I logged into Facebook earlier today, and it asked me if I wanted to update my profile with links and shit, and I told it No, maybe later or whatever, and it's obviously what you were talking about, but I've never seen it before. Telling it No seemed to work I guess; I don't see anything different about my profile. I thought you were talking about the "new" (a couple months ago) privacy settings.
Yeah DO NOT click update or whatever it wants you to do. I dunno if they're going to force everyone to do it eventually, but for now enjoy having your info how it is.
I needed to update something in my profile today, and when I clicked on "Profile" I got a screen with all kinds of shit they wanted to link my profile entries. This must be the screen you were talking about. It had checkboxes next to everything, and at the bottom was a box to "Select all" or something. When I "unchecked" it, all the checkboxes cleared. When I went to exit from that screen, I was told that because I hadn't selected anything, all of those sections in my profile would be cleared. I figured sure, whatever, I can fill things back in if I really cared.
They weren't kidding. Now I have no favorite books, music, etc., no work or education info, none of that. Most of that, I realize now, I really don't care about. I never read what other people's favorite stuff is, so I have to assume no one reads mine, either.
One thing I did try to re-enter is my education stuff. When I started entering the name of my high school, it gave me a few choices for autocompletion, and I picked the appropriate one, but it doesn't have any specific city tied to it. The name of the school is far from common, and now it takes you to a freakin'
Wiki page of all schools with that name. If you pick the one in your home town, you go to a Wiki page for your school. So there's no place in my actual Facebook profile with my specific high school.
Doesn't this also remove the ability to find people from your class in school, since the information is not stored with your profile? How am I supposed to
stalk find people from my school?
