I havent used facebook for well over a year and it still pisses me off even now because virtually *ANY* online competition involves LIKING THE FACEBOOK PAGE TO ENTER

   FUUUUUUUUUUUU

Whatever happened to emailing the correct answer or some shit ?

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that liking on facebook gives them free advertising where email does not.

This post came courtesy of my cousin's girlfriend about a month ago when someone was shot a few miles from where they live.  I swear I need a degree in linguistics to be able to decipher some of the shit she posts:

Pretty sad 2 kids (21) not even 5 miles frm my house if tht were shot n killed. Whats wrong w all these young thnkn there tuff KiDS who thnk there men by shootin people? Dont make u a man n if ur gna fight be a man n throw ur dukes up. Of course ur gna win if ur gna just b a coward n shoot sum1. Smh i undrstand if u gota carry 4 protection cuz these days u never know but these kids thnk its cool n half the time its over nothn! Wtf pisses me off. That shit dont make u cool ur just a damn fool to let ur whole future go just 4 that.

The only reason I don't have her blocked from my newsfeed is because she frequently posts pics of their kids.

Yeah that one took me awhile too.  But it means 'Shaking My Head.'

A new one that I learned recently too is "BBT"..."Bitches Be Triflin'."  Expect that one to blow up in the more ghetto communities in the coming months, folks.

Not saying it is. Just that every contest requires you to have FB as if every human on the planet uses it .

I just hate that site.

This is not the pathetic part. The pathetic part is the girl who posted this with the tagline, "This is too cute :)"

It's not really pathetic. Lately I've been just using this thread for catch-all wtf Facebook statuses.

Edit: I see I used the word pathetic in my post, but the point still stands, it was more :| than anything.

It just seems like taking it a bit too far, but it's really not right to judge other parents.  It took me a minute to figure out what was even going on, but apparently the guy had his daughter's picture tattooed (badly) on himself.  So yeah, some parents put their kids' drawings on the fridge, this guy put it on himself.  That way when he's walking around shirtless and showing off the top two inches of his boxers, everyone can see his kid's drawing tattooed (badly) on himself.

For me, the :| was a combination of doing it in the first place, how badly it was done, and my impression of the type of guy who wears his pants like that and goes around shirtless.  But whatever; he probably wouldn't like me, either.

Oh no, I was :| at the fact that the girl who posted it on Facebook (she doesn't know the person who did the tattoo) thought it was "too cute."

I have a friend (girl) on facebook who posts depressing/complaining posts every week. It's really annoying.
Things like "Why does life suck? :(" and "Weekend started good but then everything went to hell, why? :(" and similar statuses, all being about how she gets screwed over by everyone, and that nobody wants her any good in life, but instead does something which makes her sad.
I mean, sure.. life can be tough, but complaining about it on facebook just makes you look like a pathetic wimp. It's not that I'm heartless, but maybe A) stop complaining about it for attention B) actually break the bonds with the people causing turmoil all the time C) focus on the good things in life.

Yeah, life's tough for everyone.  Sometimes you just need to vent or rant or scream, which I guess are all pretty much the same thing, but if you do it all the time, it can be pretty annoying for those around you.  And on Facebook, that's anybody who's friends with you.  The ones who haven't blocked you from the Newsfeed, that is.  I have a few people like that.

I wouldn't do something like that myself, but I'd hardly disagree with anyone calling it "cute" either. Didn't Mike Portnoy do something like that as well?

"Every woman deserves a man who will love her and treat her with respect and..."

...and I couldn't even finish reading it.  It wasn't even text; it was one of those pics of block lettering meant to look profound or something, and I'm sorry, but it's just not true.

Let's face it, some women are just bitches and no, they do not deserve a man who will love them and treat them with respect and clean up their messes and buy them a house and pay for their kids and listen to their shit and whatever the hell else it said.  Who comes up with this shit, anyway?  Probably some woman who has been dumped a few times and honestly thinks she deserves better than that.  And maybe she does.  Or maybe she's just a whiny bitch.

And I'm also getting tired of the similar block-text-pictures of "IF YOU REMEMBER THESE SIX TV SHOWS YOU GREW UP IN THIS GENERATION AND YOU'RE THE BEST GENERATION."

I saw one that said "THUMBS UP IF YOU OWNED ANY OF THESE CONSOLES!", and it literally had every damn console on it (or at least everything up until the most recent generation). And I hate when people just copy a block of someone else's text (or use an image of a block of text like Orbert mentioned), and that's all. If you have something of value to say, say it, otherwise don't bother.
Luckily I don't get too much of this stuff, but still enough for it to bug me. I just don't understand why some people use Facebook sometimes, other than doing what everyone else is doing.

Agreed. I tried to add more, but you summed it all up more succinctly and clearly than I could.

I agree with Orbert.

Yeah, this is incredibly annoying. This trend of "ONLY 90S KIDS REMEMBER THIS HAHAHA LOL OMG" gives me such a headache. No, you're not a unique snowflake because you grew up in the 90s and watched one or two TV shows that these days you can probably hardly remember any details of at all (and were probably pretty mediocre to begin with). It means you have/had functioning ears, eyes, and a TV set. Congratulations. We're all impressed.

Edit: Wow, I came off angry there, didn't I? Oh well, it's just a one-time vent. Sue me.

People use Facebook for different things.  If someone posts a reference to something obscure that only certain people will catch, I do get a bit of a rush when I realize that I caught the reference.  Yay me.  Once in a while I'll comment, depending on who posted it, but I never repost them, because that's lame.

Now that I think of it, any of those "blah blah blah profound but obvious statement blah blah blah repost if you agree" are lame.  I've blocked people from my Newsfeed for posting that shit all the time.  Why don't I unfriend them?  I don't know.  Sometimes they're hot girls and tend to post pictures.  Sometimes I've known them since school and would feel bad unfriending them.  Sometimes they're both.  I used to be more ruthless about it, but now I just block them.  I never see their lame posts, problem solved.

I can appreciate those 90s kids posts because I know I won't be "in the loop" forever. When I'm 30-40 years old, I probably won't catch as many references as I do now, because kids growing up today are watching shows that I don't watch.

Although it is ironic how we act like cranky old men about it, like Implode said.
