Ehh... It feels like a less epic version of The Cloak to me. Chorus is great, but that's a staple in Leprous songs.

I know I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I really like their cover of Angel. Haven't listened to Below yet. I will probably wait for the full album.

I've been wearing that shirt regularly in the 2 years since the album came out, I'm yet to have anyone recognise who the band are  :sadpanda:

I also have that t-shirt. :)  I wore it to a King's X concert last year and the band asked me during a meet-and-greet who is Leprous?  I told them they're a progressive metal band from Norway, lol.

I wish I could do a proper review of this album, but with vacation in two days it won't happen.

That said, especially on a musical front, this album absolutely lives up to the hype of being a new direction for the band. Vocally I don't think it's evolved too much as Einar still sounds a lot like you'd expect him to, but this isn't the Leprous of the last few albums and isn't the Leprous of Bilateral. The heavier aspects are mostly gone shifted entirely to atmospheric work, and at times electronic soundscapes.

Their touring cellist Raphael is given some job security and either Einer or their own guitarist better get more acquainted with live keyboards otherwise their next tour will be far too heavy with backing tracks.

I just want to know how Baard fits into their sound on this new album! His drumming is such a huge part of Leprous's sound for me and I hope he's still really doing his thing!

i'm not sure this is the direction i want to take but it's one i can't complain about because they are actually taking a different approach rather than watering down a previously solid approach for no good reason

I kind of agree, except I found Alleviate boring with the one listen I gave it this morning. I seriously hope the guitars and drums get more playtime in the remaining songs on the album.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Didn’t find this boring at all. Love the percussive elements from Baard. Einar sounds angelic as always. Beautiful melodies. 2/2 so far! :corn

This is stuff for mainstream radio. Maybe they are trying to enter the mainstream. If it works, good for them.
I'd love this kinda music to be on mainstream radio :metal :corn

I'm on the love team, if the rest of the album is the same quality as these two tracks this will easily become my AOTY 2019

I don't see how this is a mainstream radio song. No way would this get played there

A lot of prog fans think that 4/4 and standard song structure equals mainstream

It's better than Below, but doesn't really sound like Leprous. Maybe Einar should have made a solo record instead of releasing these songs under Leprous banner.

And yes, they are allowed to change and make the music they want to make but this just isn't the Leprous I know and love.  :-\

It seems like they weren't kidding when they told me they had made their popalbum back in February, when I met them after a concert here in Norway. That said , I like the new songs so far and looking foward to hearing the whole thing! :)

Just listened to Alleviate and HOLY MOTHER OF!!!!  :omg:

The singing and finale is just insane. Love it so much. The emotions. Ojojoj.

Pop has never been a problem for me, just that since Micheal Jackson I haven't enjoyed it very much. A few bands does some quality stuff but I guess mainstream pop just doesn't hit me as emotional and interesting. This one is just everything I want from a 3 min pop song  ;D Production is great!!

Fuck me. This song is stellar. 3/3 so far. Going to be an amazing album.

Their ability to craft such an amazing buildup in their music and have such a wonderful payoff is something special.
