He'll either listen to it or not listen to it.  If he listens to it, he'll either like it, dislike it, or be neutral about it.

*snip*
I know it was a joke image, but it referenced a torrent site, which is against the rules here. I suggest you read them.

Ah the forum rules. Proving once and for all that sometimes the best hiding spot is in plain sight.

I literally almost posted that same pic, but I thought it may be in poor taste coming from a mod.

Because he doesn't want his comments to be subject to overanalysis he won't even comment on the album.

I think he'll listen to it though.

PS Head

Im certain curiousity will get the better of him sooner or later and will def' have a listen.Im also certain he will be impressed with ADToE's,racked with jelousy and feel a little bitter, but will refuse to comment on it.

I disagree

Hard to speculate on what MP will do. He seems pretty bitter about the break. I can imagine scenarios where he listens to the album and refuses to comment, and I can imagine he'll listen to the album and call the guys and congratulate them, without commenting publicly, and I can imagine he focuses so much on AM around the 13th that he doesn't get the album at all.

I would say the second scenario is the most likely. He might extend an olive branch to mend some of the bad blood. Though he'll not get back into the band, I think he'd want to be in contact with the band again, if he's not already (still?)

Sounds like you're being rather harsh on the guy.

I understand that he's been no saint since leaving, but, would you of reacted this way if James left and refused to comment on a new DT album?

If James had left and had consistently acted about it the way Portnoy has for almost a full year now, then I am guessing most would be as critical of him as they have been of Portnoy.

I think he'll get the album, but he won't say anything direct about it public (although some sort of not-so subtle, passive-aggressive tweet is not out of the question :lol)

But I do agree that he will eventually extend an olive branch to mend some of the bad blood.  It might not be for years, but I think it will happen, and I would bet money that John Petrucci will be the one he extends it to.

Since he has already listened to OTBOA, i'm sure he will listen to the full album but i doubt he will be giving his opinion on it.

He said in an interview that he had listened to the full song and the snippets that had been released at the time. He didn't comment on them though.

One thing is for sure, even if he "won't comment" on it, he'll post something like "I'd like to share my thoughts on the new album...but I'm going to just take the high road and keep my mouth shut," or something.  So he WILL comment, but he won't, sort of like he has been doing about various things recently.  For some reason I guess he thinks this method lets him keep some level of plausible deniability while still implying how he feels about something.

If James left the band voluntarily and then acted this way I sure would.  He is my favorite member of the band but to me it would just wreak of him being mad because he didn't get his way.

If James was kicked out then I could certainly understand him not wanting to have anything to do with it.  I have a feeling though that if James left on his own, wanted to come back, and wasn't allowed in, he would still act very classy and say something like "It still hurts to think of Dream Theater without me, but I knew all along that they would release a great album just as they've always done and I wish them the best."

I'd LOVE to see his reaction. The possibilities are endless.

-First he would make a polite face and just say "I didn't get to play the drums on this one" while smiling
-When it gets frequent, he'd make an "Are you fucking kidding me, you retard?" face
-But when it happens in every store he's been in, he'd just rage the fuck out and throw the disc into the wall while ranting.

It'd also be the ultimate trolling movement to do to him.

if no-one knows what a blast bear is, it's something sometimes said on the mike portnoy forum coz someone accidently put it once instead of blast beats, and it evolved quite big

I just have a hunch that once Mike hears the album, his like-button-finger will be itchin and it will be a-clickin.
