Dammit, I thought there was going to be news because of the bump. It's been so long since we've gotten any news from the band.

Me: "How?"

You haven't gotten used to that by now? They're right up there with Tool in terms of farting around except I can understand it on their end a little more since they seem to be extremely at the mercy of their label or other business associates to the point where they seem far from being able to call their own shots and thus probably run into delays from time to time that are out of their control.

Yeah, plus Russell has also just recorded with Tobias for the latest Avantasia project, and Russell has also recently done vocals with Magnus Karlsson for the third Jorn Lande/Russell Allen album 'The Showdown.'  So we can forgive the band for not many updates.  I'm sure Romeo is hard at work.

I'll say! Those Capulets are a hard bunch to win over. I'd end up killing myself if faced with such a challenge.

The lack of news is disturbing considering the album is (as far as we know) set to be released in the next two or so months

Don't hold your breath. I've seen SX albums pushed back close to a year from the original tentative release date in some cases.

Sauce?

All the news thread on their site says is "spring".

"Within the next two or so months" would be spring except for the last two weeks.

I really haven't been able to get into SX. I have The Odyssey, but it really doesn't do much for me.

That is all.

:lol Well I just put it on again. Still meh. I think it's more because my interest in this kind of music has severly waned, so I doubt I'll get into it any time soon. Oh well, I tried.

I gotta say, when I picked up a couple of their albums at first, I didn't like them either, nor did I like Russell Allen.  Given time, I don't know what I was thinking, Russell IMO now is one of the best in the world.  Just check Odyssey on every now and then, you never know, it may just click one day.

To each their own, I guess. To be honest I haven't listened to Symphony X in ages 'cos I've been listening to different styles of music but they're perfect if I'm in the right mood.

The Serpent's Kiss is probably the weakest track on Paradise Lost and I don't understand why they chose it for a music video.

Set the World on Fire was a great choice though.

I like The Serpent's Kiss but it's certainly not one of the standout tracks from Paradise Lost either.
