Something just has to scare you bad enough. As it is, you just see indirect threats that might someday happen. Easy to ignore those. Eventually, one of those risks will become significantly greater, though, and you'll hop to it. When it changes from "maybe future eye problems" to "a desperate battle to keep from going fucking blind," you'll get on the ball pretty damn quick.
My advice is to recognize that sooner or later you're going to be forced to start taking care of yourself for one reason or another, and you might as well do it now while it's still optional than later when there's a pretty good chance that it's already too late.
