Ear Problem
« on: August 28, 2011, 04:49:29 AM »
i wanted to post this months ago..but i'll proceed now..pardon me for the long post..

i like to ask if anyone is/had ear problem the same as mine..given this is a musicians forum, i'm thinking if there's someone here i can relate with (other than swimmers or scuba divers)..i know this is not a health forum but i hope you can share your thoughts..

i have developed this problem last april in my left ear and has gotten worse since then (it is now starting to happen at my right as well)..

basically, i first experienced this when i pull my finger in my either ear, then i will hear a follow through sound on my left ear sound like kruugg krug or krukk kruk..in health forums they describe like as broken speaker sound..

but it developed since then, not only by pulling my finger..at present when i hear clanking glassware, coins or anything at high frequency then stopped, i'll hear the strange noise again..when i talk with someone at quite silent room, every time he will stop talking, here's sound again..the worst over the past months is when i produced my own sound, speak, yawn, crackling in my own ear, then stopped..it will trigger..lastly, i'm experiencing continuous sound of it when i hear running water, it's like resonating..

in addition, "i feel like i'm feeling it" when the sound is produced..

been with 5 ENTs already with one completed all the necessary test (including mri and ct scan)..1 neuro-otologist (i visited last friday)..all of them cannot say anything anymore since they see my ears are overall in good condition physically/visually..i'm from the philippines not quite sure about level of ear expertise..

the doctors have not diagnosed anything but they are thinking it is only patent eustachian tube which they cannot do anything as well..

from health forums, they are considering tensor typami muscle spasm or stapedial muscle spasm..two small muscles in our middle ear:

haayzz..

other things i experience, ear related:
sudden loud tinnitus for few seconds either ears (at random times, like 10 to 15 times since then)
sudden hearing loss on certain range of frequencies for less than a second in either ears (at random times, like 10 to 20 times since then),
boat feeling vertigo (last few days or a week like every month)
crackling ears (is this really common or not?)
constant tinnitus at given quietness level (i know this is common)

others:
constant tingling sensation in left extremities since february, most of the time unnoticeable but sometimes worst specially when there's cramping or involuntary finger movements..this my original complaint..
GERD (acid reflux which causes tight throat at times)

if someone is or has experience the same, what have you done..did it go away on it's own..did you have surgery as mentioned in the health forums above..

 :( :( :(

Certain music tones and sounds make something in my right ear have a weird little spasm that I can feel and hear. Kind of a little "whump" or fluttering. It's usually when a high note is repeated over and over in relatively quick succession, like in arpeggios. Other times it's when I hear something muffled, like the bass from music being played from another room or some voices on the radio.

Occasionally I hear a sound like a ticking watch, and one day I heard what seemed like bird sounds! Looking it up at the time, it seems to be Stapedial Myoclonus and/or Tensor Tympani Syndrome. I do have a constant ringing in my ears, but usually don't notice it.

I get the feeling that stress may make it worse. When I stopped worrying about it, it seemed to get better. I'm not sure if diet or caffeine have any effect. Having a clenched/tense jaw or a TMJ disorder may cause some of it.

Some of your symptoms like vertigo and tingling extremities could be really serious. Did you mention those to a doctor?
WHOA, NICE GRAPHICS!

Sounds like a possible ear infection, maybe. I've had, like, 50 ear infections, so your symptoms sound similar to what I endured.
Listen! Do you smell something?
