I was thinking of him when I saw the thread but I thought Darroh from Fair To Midland would stand out more.

Rick Astley does put you off a bit.

Also I remember seeing a video of Candlebox when they had their first cd debut and the singer (can't remember his name) looked like he was way too young for his voice.

It might have just been I always pictures the clean voice coming from Jason William Walton for some reason. It seems to suit him more to me I guess, I don't know.

Of the ones I know, Angela Gossow wins hands down. Just watch the music video for Arch Enemy - Ravenous. Cute little blond wearing pink and then you hear ROROROROHGODSHEISGROWLINGWTFRORORORORO

I'll check out some of these other singers later, and see if my preconceptions of how they sound based on their appearance match up to their voices. :tup

Angela definitely... But I have to say when I saw her live, I really believed that she can make those sounds...

Another one that surprised me is Ambrosia Parsley from Shivaree... Listening to their lovely song "Goodnight Moon" I always imagined her mini mini tiny blonde chick... she wasn't....

EDIT: just remembered another one...
Michael Poulsen from Volbeat.... even watching them live didn't help... howcome that boy has that voice?

I remember thinking Dir En Grey was some form of Japanese version of Slipknot back when I saw them live in 06, but I honestly haven't listened to them outside of that, and I was so lame back then, so if I would listen to them again today, I'd prolly laugh at that statement.  :lol
