Is Facebook advertising for real or is it just a scam?

I'm just wondering.  Anyone know?
Now that Obama has closed Gitmo, when will he turn his attention to the abuses and torturing of the onions that are used to make the angry whopper?

It seems like a mix to me, although I would never click one of them anyway.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Yeah, my wife did some advertising for my band because I asked her to promote us and we've had a few "likes" from people that we've never heard of, especially foreigners or people with names that sound foreign.

But, the strange thing is that NONE of them have ANYTHING visible on their profiles and, when I Google their names, nothing comes up.  Does that sound fishy or am I just being paranoid?

Well I've never been on the advertiser side of the issue, but I don't think it's a scam to advertise on Facebook. I can't find my own FB page on a Google search (just a bunch of other people with the same name), and I have all of my FB security settings pretty tight, so maybe Google doesn't rank them highly enough in the search results.

But the real question is how many people are we talking here? 5? 20? If it's only a few, then I wouldn't worry too much yet. If it's like 10+ people all showing no info, then maybe I'd start keeping a closer eye on it.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me, since I ignore them anyway. I guess I'm just too suspicious to let curiosity take over (and probably rightfully so).
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

Pretty often I'll click on advertisements for a bands facebook page. So I guess there are some of us out there.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

If they seem fishy, I report them for being "offensive." :p

There's plenty of legitimate things that advertise on facebook, but there's a decent share of scams. Not sure what the ratio is.

I report almost all facebook ads as offensive just to be a dick. Or I choose "other" and type in something ridiculous. But that's mostly because their targeted ads are always so far off.

I do the same thing with uninteresting adds, hoping that more relevant adds might appear instead of breast enhancement adds.

I haven't seen Facebook ads in years... AdBlock Plus takes care of them, thank goodness.
