1)  x - 4x*sqrt(x) = 0
2)  x = 4x*sqrt(x)
3)  .25 = sqrt(x)
4)  .25^2 = x, -x

So the solution set is .25 squared and negative .25 squared.

edit: nevermind, -1/16 doesn't work. zero is the other solution, though I have no idea how to explain that properly. JAMES GET IN HERE

x - 4xsqrt(x) = 0 [Given]
x = 4xsqrt(x) [subtract 4xsqrt(x) from both sides]
1 = 4sqrt(x) [Divide both sides by x]
1/4 = sqrt(x) [Divide both sides by 4]
(1/4)^2 = [sqrt(x)]^2 [Square both sides]
1/16 = x [Simplify both sides, square root of x squared is just x]

x = 1/16

Yeah, the solution set is {1/16, 0}

Jamesman explained how to get 1/16.

You get 0 by taking the original equation:

x - 4xsqrt(x) = 0

and factoring out x:

x[1-4sqrt(x)] = 0

This leaves you with two choices, either x = 0 or 1-4sqrt(x) = 0.

These choices lead to the two answers.
