Speaking of Melodic Death Metal, I was listening to Arch Enemy's Burning Bridges album over the weekend...man, "Seed Of Hate" is an amazing song!  :metal

Luna Mortis is probably my favourite melodeath band, though Scar Symmetry isn't bad either. Any interested in the genre should definitely check them out!

New Soilwork song:

This Momentary Bliss

Sounds very much like a typical Soilwork song, nice chorus and very melodic but as i'm a speed freak Spectrum of Eternity was more my style.  :)

I recommend North from Here by Sentenced to everyone - it was the first melodeath album ever, yet it seems to be overshadowed by Carcass and the Gothenburg bands, which is a shame, as there are some awesome classics on the album, such as Northern Lights, My Sky is Darker Than Thine and Awaiting the Winter Frost.

So in case you haven't heard, Amon Amarth's next album will be called "Deceiver of the Gods."

I'm not that big fan of Melodic Death Metal but bands like Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, Hypocrisy and Kalmah are fun to listen to. I was on Ensiferum's show last year, they made great atmosphere :metal
...the years just pass like trains
I wave but they don't slow down...

Anyone heard Noumena's new album? They had a brilliant album in 2006 (Absence), then they issued another one shortly (which was imo forgettable, I can't even remember the name) and now they're back after a few years. I think it's on free streaming somewhere.

I think I listened to one of their albums a few years ago. Distinctly Finnish style.

They're probably my favorite melodeath band at the moment. Although, I don't listen to much melodeath, so perhaps that's not saying much.

On a somewhat related note, Until Fear No Longer Defines Us is probably my favorite album title ever.

I've listened to UFNLDU and it's a decent album. The vocalist could be a bit better though, and he could work on his pronunciation :D

Heh, I really like his vocals. His growls could be better, though.

You're probably right about the pronunciation, but to be honest, I hardly ever pay attention to the lyrics. He could be saying anything for all I know.  :lol

I think both the clean vocals and the growls could be better. I bet the reason why his pronunciation bothers me is that I'm Finnish, so the accent stands out :lol

So the new Amon Amarth album is pretty sweet. A few songs are a bit boring, but otherwise I like it better than Surtur Rising. Under Siege is probably my favorite track at the moment.

Yea me too, I miss Christian on vocals though never really liked the new vocalists but maybe they get their shit together on the new albums. I surely hope so.

When Dark Matter Dimensions came out, I thought it was pretty ordinary and I really thought Christian could not be replaced.  After accepting the fact over time, I went back to it and it was pretty damn good.  The Unseen Empire I really liked and was a big step in the right direction.  I firmly believe that they will never top HU, but still really interested in what they are doing.

Yea! The riff during the chourus sounds I don't know...so 80s for some reason. I just have a Mr Big vibe from that riff.  :lol

Pretty awesome, really love the guitar sound.

Edit: Ha just read that Per wanted to fuse AOR with Death Metal, well that explains alot then haha. Interesting approach, I like it!

Yeah, there's a definite mix of prog, death metal adn AOR.  It's different, but pretty good.

After one listen is not bad, but nothing to really shout about.
It's a short album, take away the short intro and the guitar instrumental, your only left with 6 proper songs.
The music is great, with an atmospheric space feel to it, the production is spot on.
The let down is the vocals, the growls are okay, but very generic sounding, but the cleans really are not up the usual SS standard.
Oh one final thing, there is NO Japanese bonus track, as I have found out first hand.

Ouch!

I noticed it was pretty short too, but since it's the first of a trilogy I can forgive them.  Saying that, Unseen Empire was pretty much the same length.

I'ved learn to live with the new singers.  I really disliked them at first but I think they are finding their feet okay.  Per on this is incredible.  I'm pretty sure he is doing some clean backing vocals here and there too.

Neohuman and Technocalyptic Cybergeddon are some of the best songs they have ever done!

They are probably my least two favourites, but they are still killer.  The middle 4 songs for me are just amazing.

Really enjoying At The Gates - At War With Reality. Besides the music I think it's one of the coolest album titles i've heard.
