Album of the 80s - FINALS
« on: August 19, 2011, 09:06:15 AM »
I can't say I am surprised that it has come down to these two, as I knew they would be two of the most popular albums of the 80s.  But which album will be DTF's MOST POPULAR of the 80s?  Everyone vote, and we'll find out! ;)

Really tough choice, but Moving Pictures is slightly more awesome.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

Moving Picture's isn't even Rush's best album and Mindcrime is better than any Rush album.

A toughie but it has to be Mindcrime. One of my top 3 (with I&W and SFAM).

A decade with Iron Maiden and Metallica putting out classic after classic, and we wound up with these two? Must be a lot more prog than metal here  :lol

Rush. It's Moving Pictures, that is answer enough.

??? 'Ryche is more metal than prog, and Rush wasn't prog in the 80s.

Out of all good albums from the 80's, these two are the ones that make it to the final?
That is just so lame.

My response to this final was a bit more diplomatic.  :rollin

Easily Mindcrime.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Incredibly, as I was preparing for my Top 50 list (whenever it get`s to me), both were side-by-side in the top 10.  O:M gets the nod by a sliver.

Yes because Moving Pictures is the BEST album from the 80s and you seem to have forgotten the core demographic of this forum.  ;D

This. I'm actually really surprised at the amount of support there is here for Operation: Mindcrime.

I'm not.  I figured this would be really close, given how highly-regarded both albums are by most.
