So it looks like those guys might finally be getting out.  Glad to see it.

What troubles me is the way it appears The State of Arkansas is going about it.  It looks to me like the State's seeking an Alford plea in exchange for their release, which I gather would disallow any claims they might have for their conviction.  In exchange for finally getting out,  they have to agree to let the state off the hook entirely?  Honestly seems like kind of a chickenshit way to go about it,  but of course prosecutors have never been high on my list of favorite people.

Regardless,  you gotta be happy for those kids.

PuffyPat:
To be completely honest, I just heard about these guys a few days ago actually. What happened to them was complete bullshit, and I'm glad that they might finally get out, and if that's what the state is doing, then fuck them. Seriously, you put three kids through years of bullshit, and then you go and try to get them to agree to something like that? Shame on them.

It's like double jeopardy in a roundabout way if you ask me. Could they take this to a higher court or is that agreement iron-clad with zero wiggle room?

PuffyPat:
It's official. They're out of prison. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/19/west-memphis-three-free_n_931449.html#s333742&title=Craighead_County_Court
