Marry one.

In all seriousness, I know four people who've become Canadian citizens: one married my cousin, one was adopted by my aunt in the aftermath of the Bosnian War, and the other two became citizens after moving here as children.  I'm not sure about the process for an adult.

Guys, I'm pretty sure Will's motives aren't political, although I could be wrong.

I figure it's the same method as moving to the States and becoming an American citizen. As long as you can prove that you have a job, and are contributing (or at least are not a leech on society) and have prospects in the country, then you will have no problem.

I'm not sure which country has a higher immigrant percentage, but Americans becoming Canadian citizens happen overnight. It's really common.

I don't know if any of us are the best people to talk to, considering I don't think many of us know about gaining Canadian citizenship, first-hand. I would look online at some Government of Canada pages. They will hold more info than we would.

Setra, I think that is the best statement I have read on this forum.  Very well said.

From what I've read and heard, insta-Canadian status is only if you are highly educated and/or have unique marketable talents and can prove it.  Otherwise you have to be a resident of Canada for 3 years and everything else on the link that has been posted twice.

Unfortunately, I don't think being a internet message board mod counts as a unique and marketable talent  :lol
