FIR sauna
« on: August 11, 2011, 11:13:17 AM »
This is the best $170 I've ever spent.  A portable far infrared sauna that helps you sweat out toxins.  Simple set up (basically just have to zip it up).

If you had toxins in your internal water supply, wouldn't you be dead already?

Honestly, those things look scary as shit, sort of like a portable gas chamber. Some suggestions for model names:

"Dante's Inferno"
"Fucking zipper, always ... gets .... stu..."
"Dunk in your own funk"
"600 degrees of inner organ boiling"

We need more.

Comes with a tinfoil hat

"Dunk in your own funk" LOL, although "own" is the operative word, not meant for family use.

The lack of an avatar and the product placement made me think this was an adbot for a minute. Looking at the post count, I see I'm wrong.

Looks like a decent answer to people who think the holocaust didn't happen.

From the pic it looks like it's barely even 3 feet tall. Am I missing something?

Yeah, it's not too tall.  Not much room to do anything but to sit on a low seat.

I'm betting it could be marginally useful if you're a hobbit and want to change your clothes while maintaining a conversation with another party.

Well, you can splurge $2,500 for an outdoor model (pictured) or a nice indoor model.

Um, next time I've 25 hundred on me, I'm splurging it on that outdoor model and "hosting" a furry rave in there.

The playlist shall be all Rammstein and KMFDM.

Will begin at 9 PM; ends when I turn on the "infrared sauna" and conveniently disappear.

If you mastubate in it does the heat scramble your output like an egg white?

LOL, not sure, it's hard to masturbate -- not enough room, plus sweat dripping over the place makes it more a place for touching oneself for non-masturbatory massage.

my parents are big sauna people, they've had a number of models over the years.
I prefer steam baths, but a "real" sauna is nice, with the stones.
Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Happy Lives to you all.

I thought it was common knowledge that when you sweat, you expel toxins from your body.

However, you only lose about 1% of your body's toxins when you sweat. Also, too much sweating can lead to decreased urine output (in the form of a dehydration symptom), preventing a much more substantial amount of toxins from being expelled. Rog just got scammed into buying a winter hobbit tent.
Listen! Do you smell something?

Good point.  I make sure to hydrate before and after a "session."  Furthermore, after a session, I try not to shower right away and let more sweat pour out.  Not comparing it to cardio, which is also beneficial in terms of stimulating the lymph system and toning and strengthening the muscles, but I'm think the sweating/hydration principle is the same -- i.e., the need for adequate replacement water (plus electrolytes) and perhaps carbohydrates (I usually have carb-rich Daterade [sic] after showering) as well.

I've had it for about four months so I discount the placebo effect.
