Louie (TV Series)
« on: August 12, 2011, 07:04:59 AM »
I just figured that the best TV show on the air deserves a thread.  Or being mentioned at all, apparently.

It's a weird dark comedy/sometimes drama written, directed, and starred in by Louis C.K.  What happens when the best comic in the world gets total creative freedom?  A completely unorthodox, inventive, and all around brilliant show happens.  Seriously, people should watch this.  It's nearing the end of its second season, and just did a double header of possibly its two best episodes yet.  Of all the comedies on TV, it's probably the best, but it's definitely the most fascinating.

Check it out.

I tuned in for an episode or two, and something about the show just didn't click for me. Love his stand up, but not a huge fan of the show. I did see the scene from last week I believe with Dane Cook, and that was a really cool little moment though :tup
Photobucket sucks.

Just watched Season2 Episode 2 on Hulu. It's very dry but I can see it growing on me.

The masturbation episode might be one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. Just throwing that out there.

Seriously though, the 1-2 punch of Wilfred and Louie makes Thursdays the best day of my week.

Been a Louie C.K. fan for a long time, he's definitely one of my favorite comedians.

This show is definitely the most awkward show on TV.  So fuckin funny.  I love how he takes such everyday issues and just generally mundane events and makes them absolutely hilarious.

Favorite line so far:  "What do you mean it just tapered off?  Like, the constant flow of penises into your asshole just tapered off?"

Oh and when he's talking to his accountant about the $17 million house he's trying to buy:  "Louie, you have less then ten times less then one month's mortgage payment"

The first time I watched it, I didn't really think it was funny but I'm rewatching it. Starting with season 1. The scene at the doctor's office with Ricky Gervais in the second episode had me in tears laughing. Morbid humor at it's best!

Louie makes the uncomfortable seem funny and I love the dark and well written storylines  it has.

Funniest, smartest, and most tragic show on television.  He sees the humor, however dark and regretful, in society and does not shy from laughing at it, mocking it, or just simply showing it for its ludicrousness.   Louie CK is truly the comic genius of our generation.

edit...the episode he did with Dane Cook is Season 2's best so far.  I didn't expect it to pan out how it did and both comedians (however their views on comedy stand) gave a great performance.  I am no way a fan of Dane Cook, but after that episode I was taken back.  Bravo Louie, bravo...

The last couple of days, I've gotten into Louie, do to it being acclaimed on this forum, and I LOVE IT.

Very rarely do you see such a sardonic example of black comedy; if not for it being a comedy, this show would be downright depressing, considering the subject matter.

It's also a nice breath of air from other joke and gag-loaded (though still very hilarious) shows, what with everything being given a good deal of breathing room and time to build up to an always satisfying punchline.

Also, though I am not an adult, it seems like one of the most realistic portrayals of the life of an urban, working-class adult I've ever seen.

Who else here loves Louie?

I love him as a stand up comic, but after watching 3 episodes and trying to get into his show it was far from happening.
