That's awesome!

I can never drink soda. I just don't have the taste for it. It's either milk or water. Anything else....I just can't. Well except Vanilla Bean...lol.

I gave up on New Years. I still have the very occasional one.

There's a health food shop that does a can of organic non sugar non aspartame non sweeteners cola which is actually pretty nice !

But I haven't had a coca cola since my bro's birthday on Jan 8.

I just have soda water at home because i find it good for relieving acid reflux.

Since nobody can say one way or the other what Aspartame actually does to you - I just avoid it anyway. Diet Coke tastes absolutely awful.

Coke Life is pretty decent since there's no chemical sweeteners and 40% less sugar.

I feel the same way about the Aspartame. People get fired up about it on both sides of the debate. I have no idea for sure, but better safe than sorry is how I am approaching it

Every thing i've read says it's not harmful in drinks because there's barely any in there.

But in the long run they can't say for sure.

I drink a lot more mineral / soda water now.

Bacon is also carcinogenic. What matters is how much and how often you need to be exposed to it in order for your chances of mutation to rise above the base-line. No research suggests that Aspartame consumed in normal quantities will do that. Given how large a segment of the population has been exposed to it, you would have expected something to show up in studies beyond "maybe".

I'm so glad i'm not a huge fan of bacon

I have a couple of rashers like once a month - if that. I'm not a huge fan.

Right now i'm trying to cut out anything processed or unhealthy.

If I fancy a soda - i'll pick a regular coca cola or pepsi. But now it's only on special occasions.

or when I go to the cinema and I hardly go !

I've also noticed that since I quit soda, bread and sugar in tea / cakes etc..

I get acid reflux a fuck load less.

I read that losing weight can help with acid reflux too and I've lost around 10lb since New Year :)

Especially exercise

All I did was have sugar & salt free Muesli in the morning. A few boiled eggs for lunch and a home cooked dinner with all proper ingredients.

After 3 months I was 10lb lighter. I didn't even do THAT much exercise bar walking up a steep hill a few times a week.

At my family's store, about three years ago, I brought in a bunch of craft sodas. We used to have around 50 different kinds, but now I'm up to about 100 different kinds of glass bottled sodas. It's kinda fun to see all the different kinds.

I just had this one last night:

If you're like me (who had the same experience) you'll also find that on the odd occasion that you do have pizza/lasagne or something the reflux will be ten times worse than it ever was prior to being "low carb".  All good as long as you stick to what you're doing  :D

Leninade looks cool.  I'll be Putin it on my shopping list.

Im a diet only person as well, once you get used to the taste than regular no longer tastes good, feels too thick and syruppy.

I switched to diet about 8-10 years ago and completely agree.  Regular pop is too sweet and syrupy for me.  But I drink Diet Dr. Pepper and the various Coke Zero flavors (coke zero, vanilla and cherry) by the gallon.  Diet Coke tastes gross, but I don't mind Diet Pepsi.

At least in diet, there is no to minimal calories.

Yeah Diet Coke is vile.

It has that horrid saccharine-y aftertaste. Coke Zero doesn't have it and neither does Coke Life - which has Steviol in - which is a planet extract so probably less un-healthy than chemicals.

It's a pink lemonade. It's really quite good.

Here's another one called Rat Bastard

MacFuddy Pepper Elixir. This one tastes like Dr. Pepper with more pepper. Really quite refreshing actually

Sea Dog. Vanilla is the primary flavor, so it reminds me of A&W, but way better.

The craft soda world is a lot of fun, and interesting. There are so many different kinds and some are different kinds (some bottled under a different label, yet still the same one). The distributors that I get my sodas through is working with me to develop my own root beer that would be available for distribution. It's a fun process. I tell them the flavors I'm looking for and they send me 12 different variations of those flavor combinations and I whittle it down to three. I work with those three and give them feedback on them towards one final product that goes to bottling. The label is the first process and that's where I'm still finalizing.

At what point are all of those sodas basically just funny names? Does Rat Bastard taste too different from any other root beer?

Rat Bastard is an odd one. It's a root beer, but is more medicinal tasting. It's got cloves in it and jasmine amongst other things. It's not my favorite. I just listed some of the quirkier ones, most aren't funny names. Some taste similar, but a lot have different tastes. Root Beer can have many different forms

That was me last year, well almost.  Im approaching one year without soda, just gave it up one day.  I can't say I've noticed much of a difference besides a dollar or two saved with most meals out.

In general I don't drink it.

I was always a bigger coke fan than pepsi.  Pepsi was good but tasted more sweet than Coke.  I thought Coke got the flavor/sweetness hot spot.  But diet pepsi was better than diet coke, diet coke tastes nothing like regular coke where as diet pepsi does taste similar to regular pepsi.

Mr. Pibb called this thread to say Dr. Pepper is garbage.

I love soda, and would easily be 5 pounds heavier if I drank it as much as my cravings wish I did. I drink a lot of water during the day to avoid drinking soda.
