Book update for those interested.
First, Roads to Madness: The Touring History of Queensr˙che (1981-1997) has finished printing today! It'll be packed and shipped off to the publisher late next week. Then orders will fulfilled and shipped out to everyone who ordered!
A note on that - we kept the pre-order price live (it still is at 74.95 for the HC and 49.95 for the PB), but once the books are in-hand, it will go up to the regular price ($99.95 for the hc, and $59.95 for pb) once the books are in-hand. So if you haven't bought one yet, and are planning to, I seriously encourage you to do it NOW.
The hardcovers (limited to 200 copies) are quickly selling out. They will all be gone in the next month or so. Once they are gone, they are gone. No more HCs will be printed. The PBs will continue to be available. Remember, this isn't a novel. It's 8.5x11, a historical reference guide, and almost 600 pages. It cost a ton to make and a ton to ship. So if you want a limited edition HC. Get an order in now at nwmetalworxmusic.com. (Just click on "Books by NW Metalworx")
So now the big news. For everyone in the Seattle/Pacific Northwest area:
We're having a signing event and launch party on Saturday, June 29, at Easy Street Records in West Seattle. It starts at 6:30 p.m.
Myself and Brian Naron will be there to sign books and talk, and we'll also have Building An Empire: The Story of Queensr˙che there to sign as well (James Beach, who wrote most of that one, will also be there to sign it). We're also going to have an informal panel of guests who worked with the band's original lineup. They'll tell stories, answer questions, talk about things etc. I don't want to roll out any names quite yet, as this is all informal, but I have confirmation from at least one of the band's original road crew, perhaps one of their former managers, and a litany of others will be invited.
In short, even if you don't want a book, it'd be a cool thing to be at. Easy Street has graciously agreed to host this entire thing, with live Queensr˙che music playing in the background, and we have the store to ourselves for as long into the evening as we want. So it'll be a great evening of stories, celebration, and all things QR and northwest metal. A lot of folks from the Seattle scene pop up at these events (other bands) too, so you never know who is going to show.
Anyway, I'm sure there's only a handful on here who are really interested, but I wanted to keep everyone up-to-date. Thanks to all of you who have bought a book, plan to, or just wishing the project the best. I really appreciate it.
I'll post about it again once the books are in-hand at the publisher. Have a great weekend!
