I really really don't like PoS, but I still love Gildenlol's voice.

Not liking PoS is like not liking life in general.
Ask me, I know.  :lol

His voice is very good.  Its the overall package of PoS that I don't see the massive appeal for.  Or his political tool-ness.

This probably sums it up best for me.  It's hard to give a simple yes or no, because what he does is so diverse.  There's no denying that he is a tremendous vocal talent.  But as far as whether I "like" him as a vocalist, I would give him mixed reviews.  I would compare him to Mike Patton in a lot of ways.  By that, I mean that he is very talented, very creative, very expressive, and has an incredibly wide array of styles he is able to draw on.  However, also like Patton, some of the stuff he does, both in terms of his own vocals and in terms of the musical compositions he is singing on, are too odd and don't appeal to me, even though I can definitely recognize and appreciate the artistic factor in what he is doing.  Does that make sense?

I get what you're saying, and I think everyone knows a few artists that fit that same bill in their views. It's a better outlook than "this singer does not fit my standards, therefore he/she must be terrible."

Heeerrrreess ZOOKY! No I don't like his voice. I think it's atrocious. I'd rather listen to Dave Mustaine. Not trolling. Dave might be a horrible singer, but I still enjoy his voice. Maybe it's because I grew up listening to Megadeth though.

He's alright.

He has quite a bit of range, but, my biggest problem with him, is that he tries to use waaaaaaaay too much of his vocal range, like, all the time.  Plus, I overall don't really like his harsh vocals and his rapping. There are a few songs where I enjoy his use of those vocal ranges, but they're pretty sparse.

I think the comparison to Patton is good. They're both extremely versatile singers, but, they also seem to overuse their voices too much. There's something to be said for exhibiting a bit of control.

Yes, but I'm not that much of a POS fan.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

I listened to some of Beyond The Pale earlier. His voice wasn't as annoying as usual, but I wanted to turn the song off so many times because of that damn guitar. Eventually I lost interest.

So I retract my earlier statements. His voice CAN be atrocious, but not always. I still don't see the big deal.

I agree that Russell Allen is a better singer, but DG has a much wider range of styles.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. I love DG, I just wish he had a better self awareness for when his theatrics become contrived.

Good point.  On most other music boards, the results would be more like:

Yes:  5%
No:  2%
Who?:  93%

In what way is it shocking?
Even the people that don't like PoS (god knows why) are at least able to identify him as a good singer, or well.. some are. :P

Yes, I love his voice. However his ego has been bugging me for a while.

The ego thing 1000%.  I was just thinking about this the other day.  I think his voice has been sub-par the last  2 albums.  His vocals on Remedy Lane and PE1 were just stellar.

He's one of my favorite singers in any genre. One of the people I'm gonna stalk the rest of my life until he agrees to work with me on a project. Seriously.

Good idea. DG is great with weaving tragic life experiences into compelling songs.

Pretty much this. He's incredibly talented, but he has a habit of going really far over the top, which kills it a bit for me. This problem is also getting worse as every album goes by.
