Pens, and I'll tell you why.  I write so that the writing utensil is perpendicular to the paper.  This works wonderfully with pens, because most pens are sometimes spotty when it comes to writing on the side of the tip.  But pencils are very fragile if you write like this, so I generally don't use pencils.  If I do, then I'll go with mechanical pencils.

Pens are better because their writing looks cooler, fancier, and also darker, and without pens you wouldn't have been able to make that "pen island" joke in middle school. Real men are able to admit their mistakes and showcase them instead of just erasing history and pretending it never happened (in other words, pencils are for Stalinists and people who support them). Pencil-dicks are the best of both worlds but I think you have to get stabbed by a radioactive pencil first to get one or something so it's out of the question for most people, and plus people might stare at you weird if you just unzip your pants in the middle of class and start splooging ink all over your paper with your Papermate PencilPenis 3000 (plus how would you even sharpen a pencil-dick?).

Yeah, it's weird, I use pens almost all the time when doing math (tutoring or otherwise). I think it's because I am at a point that any math I do, I've done it before and mistakes are a lot less likely to happen on my part.

Maybe, but as of now it takes me a good two-week layoff to get the protein concentration high enough that I can swing from building to building. The pencil-dick technique will save me oodles of time.
