I like a good breakdown in the right context.  I don't like Metalcore bands that use the same generic sounding breakdowns in every song.  Eww.

but for serious i don't mind breakdowns every once and a while but after a time they get annoying.

Okay, this is groove metal, as opposed to core, but it's radical.

Breakdowns can be excellent when done right. Unfortunately, one of the only bands who get it seems to be Sepultura before Max left.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

Sepultura are a shell of what they used to be. Don't they only have one original member left?

Lamb of God: The perfect combination of groove metal and metalcore.

I never thought Lamb of God and perfect would be in the same sentence together.
Don't get me wrong, I think Lamb of God is alright, but they are very very generic groove metal. I dig their grooves and breakdowns for sure, and Chris Adler is a beast, but I think they are far from "perfect" by any stretch of the imagination.

I'll have a mature discussion with you about Lamb of God if you want. But don't be an asshole because you don't agree with me.

That cowbell does not fit in at all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsGC4yaIsj8  Kvelertak- Sultans of Satan, 2:35 for an awesome buildup to Cowbell over raunchy riffs.  Not really a breakdown, but a pace changer thats nice.
