A Little Math Help Is Needed

So I've been helping this girl friend of mine who's taking pre-calculus but this problem has been beat, probably because the last time I took a pre-calculus class was 3 years ago.

Find x:

3(10^x+4 - 3) = 9



I know that I have to use logarithms but I can't seem to find the answer.

3(10^x+4 - 3) = 9 [given]
10^x+4 -3 = 3 [divide both sides by 3]
10^x+4 = 6 [add 3 to both siddes_]
log₁₀6 = x + 4 [Log property: rewriting logs]
x = log₁₀(6) +-4 [subtract 4 from both sides]

i dont know where my calcutator is. but the log button on the calcutlr is base 10 so youre cool.
