Also, what are the chances of just showing up and good tickets coming available for sale? Thanks in advance

You never know... This is many years ago but I remember one time a friend and I drove up to the ticket office at the Universal Amphitheater to see if we could get tickets to Jethro Tull just a few hours before the show. People ahead of us were going away mumbling dissatisfaction and when we got to the counter we said we'd take whatever they had. I remember the ticket person asking if we were really truly big fans to which we replied yes (of course). I told her that I was at the show the night before and thought it was so good that I wanted my friend to see the show. To make a short story long, we got absolute front and center in the "orchestra pit" ... we used to joke that we could count Ian Andersons nose hairs from our seats.
So anyway, Like I said, you never know
.
EDIT: Got kind of nostalgic after reading my own post and dug out my ticket stub... it was Tues Dec 15 1987, Section: PIT, Row: AAA, Seat 3 (my friend got seat 1)... Time to scan all my old stubs. Some of them are fading fast
