I still wished they played Pull Me Under AND THEN BAI as the encore. It would have been even more epic to end the show on an epic note. Anyone else with me?

meh, I was just happy to see them live.  They've been my favorite band since '92 and this was the first time I've been able to see them in concert.

so I turned around and yelled "How about they play shut the fuck up", and he finally shut up for the rest of the show.  :lol

LOOL, nice one

BTW, BAI sounded AMAZING on that vid even with mediocre sound quality.. I think I'm gonna cry if they play BAI next weekend lol  :hefdaddy

just a joke , nothing personal, but after seeing the video of BAI from the left front of the stage the public seemed a little lifeless.
if somebody feels personaly injured, i take everything back. amazing crowd! :mehlin

They were probably just paralyzed by the pure awesomeness of DT playing BAI ---> :omg:

I'm feeling sorry for Dream Theater having to play for such a passive crowd  :tdwn Maybe it was better outside the camera-angle. European crowds seem to be much better, though.

Got chills all over me when I saw the BAI-clip. I'm just hoping they include it on every setlist :)

I really hope we get some great quality video from some of the other concerts!

just seen some of the footage, wonderful performance of DT,
you can't say the same thing about the public, are these real living americans or a bunch of puppets(without a string!).
i promisre you next year in germany that will be totally different :metal :metal :metal :metal

Not sure what song you saw but if was during BMUBMD then maybe we just overall don't dig that song and realize we can create change by our actions and maybe get the band to replace that tune with a much better one,  unlike in Germany where you blindly follow anything.

Thats the most stupid excuse I've ever heard for not cheering. What other thing can you do, than cheering? The fact that you stand still doesn't mean you can change anything or anything about what DT wants to play, you just look boring with little energy. Wow, you should support your band while you're there. You don't get to see them every night you know.

Greetings from Norway where we cheer when bands play(especially my favourite band ;)
Everyone knows its Butters!

Awesome!!!  Glad that you caught that comment....  I was laughing my ass off, seems like our thread just might have been read from the Warfield  :lol :lol :lol

OK..... so a lil against my better judgement I'll post my crappy version of BAI.  Yeah... I'm using a lil flip vid so it's pretty crappy.  That being said, it has some OK segments, especially JP's solo.  So don't hate too much  :lol  I missed a bit of the intro because I was busy having a coronary being so overjoyed that they were playing it , but the rest is there.  OH...dont forget to catch the "Mother Fucker" guy behind me..... :lol

I think either setlist would do IF AND ONLY IF BAI is in the rotation. I mean, there are songs that we are all fond of and not, but BAI has to be there or else  :tdwn for me. :)

Okay, after watching that CIAW vid, I've pretty much decided that the next person I hear bitching about JLB's voice live is going to get punched in the mouth. The guy is fucking fantastic, especially for his age, and he was actually even slipping up to the next note in the chord at the end of some of those phrases. Seriously, people need to stfu about him and recognize. Disussions about "who would replace him" or "who would fit better" seem absolutely ridiculous to me after seeing these recent clips and hearing his performance on ADTOE. James is the fucking MAN. This is what makes DT so brilliant: there is no weak link.

I think JLB criticism has gone down a notch in the later years. I mean, the guy's gotten plenty of bad words and criticism for his live performances, but lately it seems that got lower. Probably because DT fans' hate radars went straight to MP  :lol

True, but there was still was some substantial 'counter-hate' from people who were MP-loyalists. Regardless, criticism of JLB's live and studio performances over the last few years have gone down substantially.

And I keep telling it eversince I started listening DT back in 92. Never really got all the hate James is receiving. And I am very pleased with his voice on the album. Can't wait to see them in 2 days!

I love it... My buddy, who got me INTO DT, who is also a huge fan, who find's LaBrie's voices incredibly annoy (at least in the past 10 years) think's JLB is better than ever
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Train of Thought was the only DT album where I didn't like his voice.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Honestly I do believe the last album where he truly loved JLB's vocal performance was Awake..... but then again he (and I too) both love everything about awake... soo.... yea

Those links to the LA shows don't do the crowd any justice.  You can't even see the center of the crowd, only the far away corner.  There were plenty of people rocking it to every song with unyielding energy.  I did not relent the whole show, was front and center giving JP and JLB plenty to feed off.

Looks like a pretty solid batch of songs to choose from, even if they don't mix it up. I'm hoping they break out Peruvian Skies at the Atlanta show, and I'd really love to see TITL live, but I don't know where it would fit.  Plus, an acoustic version of Wither would be pretty cool.  As much as I did PMU, I hope that's not the encore song, as I've seen them do it twice (On the Gigantour encore with Metropolis, and during their run with IM in 2010).  I'd love for LTL to be the encore song, but I suspect they'll only rotate between UAGM and PMU since LTL is more of an epic, while the other two are relatively shorter.
In the heart of your most solemn barren night
When your souls turn inside out
Have you questioned all the madness you invite?
What your life is all about
