Album of the Year 1988 - nomination phase
« on: August 01, 2011, 12:35:11 PM »
Rules:
-Post your 5 favorite albums from 1988; the order does not matter.  If you only like less than 5, list those.  Just no more than 5.
-List the band name first and then the album name.  Like this: Band name - Album name
-If you change your mind, edit your original post.  Do not post them again.
-Only studio and live albums will be counted; no best of, compilations, etc.
-Posts that you do not follow these rules will not be counted.

Nomination phase will last two days.

I suspect the first two rounds here will just be window-dressing before the inevitable Mindcrime/AJFA showdown.

Queensryche- Mindcrime (a top 3 of alltime)

Yngwie Malmsteen- Odyssey
Bon Jovi- New Jersey (they never topped this album for me)
poison- Open Up And Say Ahh- every track a winner. The perfect definition of hair metal.
Jason Becker- Perpetual Burn- ahh where would he have taken us?

Another great year and alot of great albums have to miss out. I'm sure I'm missing out on alot of the albums I bought in the 80s for want of a good list to check against.
Notables that almost made it.
Cinderella- Long Cold Winter
Magnum- Wings Of Heaven
Vinnie Moore- Time Odyssey (with a certain JR on keyboards)
Deep Purple- Nobody's Perfect

Best of the rest
Winger- Winger
Stryper- In God We Trust
Jeff Healey- See The Light
Enya- Watermark
Gypsy kings- St
manOwar- Kngs Of Metal

1988 is not a prolific year for music in my collection.

I'll go with-

Metallica - And Justice For All (a real curveball there)
Van Halen - OU812

Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.
