That's news to me. Now, I'm curious: how does it remind you guys of Opeth?
Ive never even thought about opeth during ANTR is to busy for an opeth song.

I think you're giving too much credit to DT and not enough to Opeth.
no I give them as much credit as they deserve

I suppose. I've never considered ANTR a busy song by any means. The layers are pretty shallow and there aren't many of them. I feel like you can get it all in one or two go arounds.

I appreciate Nick's remarks.

I always find it's 'DT COME TO INDONESIA' rather than Chile, but I mainly try to ignore those foreign types.

What does this even mean? I've got no idea what you and Orcus are trying to say; foreigners that want DT to play near them are worth ignoring and probably won't be accepting of the new band lineup?  :lol

I think I may be the only one that understands what both were trying to say

That's nice. Might help if someone just explained it then and settled the whole thing, because I'm not seeing the connection between someone wanting DT to play at a foreign country and them being more likely to reject Mangini and I'd imagine the people who took offense didn't either.

Over the years someone will pop up very once in awhile either on here or Facebook or where ever, usually a very excitable fan from South America or elsewhere, proclaiming DT as the best band in the world, demanding DT come to their country and that SFAM is the greatest album of all time. There's nothing wrong with any of that just an observation that amuses me whenever it happens since they seem to be stuck in 2000.

But I'm still not getting what that has to do with them taking sides on the drummer issue (which is what started this whole thing). At the very least, I'm not sure what makes them any more likely to go one way or the other than an American (or UK or wherever you want) fan who thinks SFAM is their best album.

Oh well. Nice review, either way.

I wasn't trying to say anything, just sort of taking the piss a bit.

Regardless, cool review by Rich, but I think I'm going to steer clear of reviews from now on. I have a habit of taking snippets of info on board and not being able to get rid of them, sort of a 'can't be unheard' situation when somebody remarks on a feature of a song.

ANTR does remind people of Opeth.

Me too, most of the time.

i think opeth's melodies rely more on subtlety, whereas ANTR is kinda more in your face. i really think the intro to OTBoA sounds Opeth influenced, however, does anybody else hear it?
