They must have come down with the sickness.

10K Fists and Indestructable were amazing.

Agreed. I havent listened to Asylum, but I havent really gotten the interest in it.

Don't bother, it's nowhere near the standard of those two before it.

Sorry, I just find it funny that someone who likes Iced Earth as much as you do is calling the leader of any other band an asshole.  :rollin

This had no affect on me. I listened to them in my angst-devoted middle school days and thought they were great. That faded pretty quickly. I can't remember caring about them after Ten Thousand Fists, which I still think has some actually pretty good songs; even then, they're mainly too nostalgia-filled for me to make an accurate judgement. Better a hiatus and/or break up than continuing in mediocrity....or worse.

I still really like Indestructible. Asylum's grown on me a little, but I still think it's a half-assed effort (barring the title track, which is fucking awesome). The b-sides and rarities album The Lost Children didn't do anything for me. That was the last album to come out, I believe.

Well Jon Schaffer is a crazy asshole, but I bet if he had a twitter account, he wouldn't be a prick to all his followers.

Joking aside, I think Mike Wengren is an excellent drummer, and is wasting his potential with Disturbed and his new project, Fight or Flight.

Oh, and David blocked me on Twitter, but I provoked it after he was being a condescending douchebag. Basically, he posted an article and put "wow, mother of the year". A lot of his followers are idiots, and as a joke mocking those who always take him too seriously, I put "mother of the year? That's awful, David. You should be ashamed! :P" To which he replied, "it's sarcasm, genius, don't you get it? i was merely testing him as I knew he wouldn't get that I too was being sarcastic. I even had the damn emoticon at the end.

Oh then he said I was being "butthurt" (I hate that fucking word) because I tried being a smartass and he called me out on my bullshit. It may have been in bad taste, but I think he was the only one upset that he couldn't tell I was joking with him, even with that damn smiley. The guy is a tool, and it's not the first time he snapped at me. Telling me to butt out of a conversation on fucking twitter. Last time I checked, Twitter wasn't a private messaging service. And I was trying to joke with him that time too.

Well the hiatus is over...

The Vengeful One:

The song isn't terrible, but it isn't anything new, and Mike sounds like he's holding back on the drums.

I like the new album cover... that's about it. Seriously, they clearly needed a break after Asylum was so uninspired, but this... sounds like it could have just been shat out with the rest of their music. Hopefully the rest of the album is better. I'd never really expect Disturbed to ever really change their sound, but still, when you announce a hiatus to take a five-year rest from making samey music, and come back with something that just sounds like your filler tracks, it is kind of lol-worthy.

So  in the time it's taken Tool to follow up 10,000 Days, Disturbed has released two albums....broken up...then got back together and released a third.   :censored

So this album has really grown on me. Fire It Up is really the only weak link, but that's mainly due to the stupid lyrics. There are a few other "filler tracks", but overall this album is a nice comeback with some new elements thrown in. Definitely better than Asylum. After over 2 years (when Draiman and I got into a stupid argument on Twitter, revealing his true colors) I finally want to listen to this band again.

^^ Did he blast you with all caps in the tweets he sent you?

As for the album, it's not that bad.   Probably won't crack my fave five of the year, and there are some skipable tracks, but it's pretty consistent enough from start to finish. I'm glad to hear it.  Favorites so far: The Light, What Are You Waiting For?, The Sound Of Silence, Never Wrong, and Who Taught You How To Hate.

I've never seen him not use caps lock. I write in all capitals, but never keep caps lock on when typing.

My favorites are Immortalized, Open Your Eyes, The Light (chorus is lacking though) The Sound of Silence, Legion of Monsters and The Brave and the Bold. The other songs are run of the mill, but at least they have a hook unlike anything from Asylum.

Got the deluxe version yesterday and having a listen for the first time, up to the song Who, and I'm really enjoying it.  I didn't expect anything new but as Zook said, a lot of hooks unlike Asylum.  Strong performances and strong production.

Heh. The bonus tracks are better than some of the tracks on the actual album. Why would they not include them on the album?

I don't get the hate for Asylum. That album has some killer tracks.

yeah, just heard them, I'm glad I got the deluxe edition.  Brave and the Bold could be like top 5 at least.

Asylum was just bland and had nothing memorable IMO.

Interesting that John didn't record on the album either.  I guess he was out with AM.

Yeah IMO, Asylum had 2 absolutely amazing tracks, 1 good/okay track (title track), and the rest was pretty forgettable to me.

Didn't know these guys had a new one. Always enjoyed this band. Homogeneous discography but also a consistent one in quality imo. Will listen. But man, I can't keep up with releases this year  :lol At least DT postponed to 2016.

I'm really liking this cd, although even though the Sound of Silence cover is actually quite brilliant, it feels out of place.  Should have been on the end as a bonus track I guess.   It's pretty damn impressive though.
