Just got back from the concert w/ Thank You Scientist and Cursive. Damn good show, a good mix of fan favorites, stuff from the new album, and surprisingly a lot of SSTB. A little sad Afterman got all of one song played between the two discs, though.
Also got the new album so I'll give it a proper spin tomorrow, did like it a fair bit when I listened to the stream.

Officially out! Oi oi! Good to have it official. Great album, I'm digging it a lot. Gotta restrain from overplaying though; which is gonna be tough for Eraser, Ghost, and Peace To The Mountain.  :heart

I really like the stripped down, relaxed feeling on this album. It feels like an album the band really needed to let out, especially Claudio (the lyrics are very personal at some points.) Atlas, Ghost, and Peace to the Mountain are just phenomenal songs.

So I'm blaring the new album...my friend is chilling downstairs...and as the album is ending I receive a text that looks like this:

Peace to

I don't even watch the show anymore but I started cracking up. I watched it long enough to know who he is but...lawd.  :lol Fucking ruined the song for me temporarily, at least for tonight.

Mm. Finding this album doesn't have a ton of staying power, the songs are all pretty much songs you can get everything you need from in two or three listens. Colors grew on me a little, Here to Mars still has a great chorus, Ghost is still fantastic, and Peace to the Mountain is a great closer, but I dunno how much I'm gonna end up listening to this one in the future. No weak tracks or anything, just not really that many strong ones either, oh well

Agreed. But I think if I listen to it in a mood besides the bitter angry one I've been in the last few months I'll like it more.

Interesting. The album has grown on me a lot, but then again I think Coheed does that more pop/rock influenced side really well. I find all of the songs have some lines or a few instrumental hooks in them that I latch onto. I agree that down the line this probably isn't going to be the album I see as their shining star and apex moment, but I do love the album a lot and think it accomplished what they set out to do. They've done the tried and true (and to them by now, probably tired) outrageously in depth, expansive, complicated works. It was time for something laid back and straight forward and I think they still hit a lot of great moments on the album while being a standalone effort that was more or less by-the-numbers as far as Coheed goes.

Cool, I might participate.

Color Before The Sun is a solid album...nothing really special though. I wouldn't call it a disappointment, but I am confident that it's my least favorite album to date.

Despite this, Peace to the Mountain is probably a Top 10 Coheed song, and I'll be seeing them live for the 6th time when they come back to Dallas.

Yeah, it's the most pop-oriented and accessible album they've done to date. Not sure if that's related to the fact this is the first with no connection to the comic book storyline.  Still, it's very well done and I'm enjoying the album a great deal.

I'm about the same Gadough. It's not a bad record, but I've been mostly lukewarm to it. It's basically another YotBR to me. Two or three great tracks, and the rest is largely forgettable.
Hire me. I'm talentless but malleable.

I'm just recently getting into this band and decided to get their latest last week. I think it's a solid album... Not crazy great or anything, but I at least moderately like most of the songs, and really like Peace to the Mountain, Atlas and Here to Mars.

I'm only two listens in so I don't know how it's going to age, but I could end up really liking a lot of the tracks on here. I'd say it's a well done effort at a stripped-back album.

Saw these guys live for the first time last week.  Incredible show!  I can't remember the last concert I attended where the crowd had so much energy.
Sincerely,

Hopefully they'll play Peace to The Mountain.

Sometimes though I wish they'd change their setlist a bit besides the usual hits they always play. Everything Evil, A Favor House Atlantic, Blood Red Summer, Ten Speed(even though I like the song), Sentry.

MY BODY IS READY.

My only regret is that I don't have any vacation days that aren't spoken for this year. I'd love to follow this to 2 or 3 cities, as it's going to be amazing.
