So I checked out a few songs, and while I liked them musically, Claudio's vocals were very... grating, for lack of a better word. For reference, I checked out Iron Fist and Sentry the Defiant, I think. Are there any albums out there that are a little more accessible, vocal-wise?

That reason plus many others are why I consider them a modern day Rush.

I used to be the same way, until I learned to accept music as music.

I was a fan of Rush so Claudio's vocals never bothered me.

Except when he screams, then I find it a tad grating.

Give Ascension a shot. I'm not sure if it's more accessible vocal-wise, but I like it better than Descension. I'd also recommend In Keeping Secrets, but if you find his voice grating now, you probably won't enjoy that. :)

I really like the screams they have here and there.  Not a big fans of the ones on "Hearshot Kid Disaster" but that one part in "The End Complete III" is just so  :metal

Don't listen to:

A Favor House Atlantic
Blood Red Summer
Wake Up

Also, Claudio's voice rules and you should listen to AFHA because it's fucking amazing

^It's unfortunate how high-pitched his voice is in those songs. I love it, but they can definitely turn off a new listener.

And that's how it came off live too. A lot of people had their phones out during their set.

and on top of everything, they didn't say a single word to the crowd. Just came out, played for 25 minutes and walked off without even saying goodnight, or thank you or even what their name was.

Total contrast to when BTBAM came on and shit got crazy. crazy in a good way that is.

i posted this while watching them  :lol

anyway BTBAM and Coheed RULED. they both killed it. btbam was perfect, and i know a lot of people around me had no idea who they were beforehand but were impressed by how difficult the music is.

also i was hoping for number city but coheed's setlist was very good

Eh, Russian Circles is stil makes much more interesting stuff than Coheed. Coheed was tight but they should've just played Welcome Home earlier so I could've left at a reasonable time. BTBAM was rather entertaining though.

The big problem is they had three bands with three different styles together. Never usually works out.

I can see why some people aren't really into Russian Circles, but I dig them a lot. Their debut album "Enter" is amazing.

I fucking love Russian Circles.  It is a bit of an odd concert combination (similar to how odd PT and Coheed was) but I'm sure I would have enjoyed the whole concert.

Maybe try songs like Apollo I: The Writing Writer, Gravemakers & Gunslingers and The End Complete III: The End Complete. I know some of my friends who always used to bitch about Claudio's voice when I played Coheed in the car were still able to at least enjoy these songs.  :lol I can understand your reaction to his voice though, it took some time to grow on me but ever since, Coheed has been one of my favorite bands.

Dude, to each his own and everything. It's cool if their music isn't for you. But to call such obviously talented musicians who put their everything into their music and their career a one hit wonder is just ignorant.

One hit wonder tends to come off as saying "these guys got lucky". So it sounded implied. Again, to each his own if you don't like the band. I won't try to consider you otherwise.

Good Apollo Vol. 1 or In Keeping Secrets are probably your best bet. Though the new double album (Afterman: Ascension and Descension) are among their best work as well.

Definitely... I think the best place to start is Good Apollo Vol. 1. I still think The Willing Well I and II are the best songs Coheed has to offer to this day.
