My boss is off today, so we're changing the keyboard to a dvorak layout. We're going to leave a clue set as the desktop for him to figure out how to change it back. (The keystroke is ctrl+shift)

We want the riddle to have the words "control", "shift", and "keys." Maybe something hinting at combining.

My best is:
Sometimes you control the future
Or shift your perspective of the past.
But if you combine these keys, they will unlock the present.
