Absolutely fantastic stuff from everybody here! Glad we've gotten some momentum going.

nice piece....  :tup

out of curiosity... how do you feel afterwards? I mean having sold your art piece is sth to be proud of... but do you ever miss them???? or have you ever found yourself in a situation where you felt that it wasn't the right home for your art?

It's a bit odd to let go of something you've poured your heart in soul into, but it doesn't bother me too much as I've gained experience and money all while doing something I love! Plus, I always get photos and scans of the things I'm going to sell, so it doesn't disappear altogether completely. :)

I'm not naturally artistic or anything (I can't draw worth a shit) but I do very much enjoy art.  Here is a piece I ended up using in a Digital Design class I took two years ago.  Done exclusively in Photoshop.  It took me many, many hours due to my lack of natural ability..Many people who do Space Art use a tablet and can produce much more impressive pieces in exponentially less time, which has really been a big road block for me to put a lot of time into it.

Dude, are you kidding? That looks awesome to me!

I'm half considering getting a graphics tablet myself. I've never had one before, although I've used them and know they take some getting used to. I don't do a lot of straight up 2D work, but I do a lot of Photoshop work, including a lot of hand drawing and painting and I think it would make things a lot easier for me once I learned to use it.

Here's my local computer store I go to, which have a very limited range of tablets. The more expensive Wacom looks ok for a beginner like me, but I wanted to see if anyone had any opinions-
https://www.arc.com.au/pub.php?gid=23235&p=group

I also don't mind getting one elsewhere online, but there is the shipping cost to Australia to keep in mind. Since I'm a beginner, I don't want to spend too much on something I've never used before, but around $100 would be fine.

I would recommend one of the wacom bamboo series, if you can find one. The first tablet I got was an older model bamboo medium and its lasted me years without any issues. They're easy to use, accurate, and very affordable, perfect for a beginner.

Actually, since I upgraded recently, my old tablet is just kind of gathering dust. If you're interested,  you can have it for just whatever it would cost for me to ship it to you. Like I said, it works perfectly, the only sign of use is the surface is worn down quite a bit (wacom tablets have a semi rough paper like surface out of the box, this old one is now much smoother).

If you're interested, shoot me a pm. ;D

Thanks, guys! I'll try and get a brighter picture of it tomorrow in the school studio. I don't have an actual camera so my pictures of stuff are never the best quality... I should probably invest in one.

I did a DT pumpkin one year (which turned out well, I think yours is better though), and the general reaction to it from family and friends was "That's cool... what is that?"

Really great stuff by everyone! :tup Here is the latest one by me,although it's photo manipulation, not a drawing like the one of Scorpion I posted on the previous page.I like how it looks even though I found out later that a band from Bulgary have a very similar cover.

Thanks to Edan the Man, I just received a dandy graphics tablet today. :D
Here's my first serious attempt at drawing anything. Kind of started out as a bug, but then it turned into an evil Zoidberg, I guess. :lol No shading or colour, just a basic sketch.

Because I'm an impatient man, I was using it while I was waiting for the drivers to download, and it defaults to mouse mode, so it wasn't very good for drawing. :lol Once I installed the drivers and had pressure sensitivity though, it's actually a bit easier than I expected to get used to.

My only issue is that the surface feels kind of sticky, and I can't move my hand freely over it (not sure if that's because the surface is worn down a bit?), so I just taped a piece of paper over it, and now it feels really good to draw on.

I'm definitely starting to get the hang of it though, and it's a great tablet. Thanks again. :tup

The surface never felt sticky to me, just kind of glossy, so dunno what's up with that. You must be a sticky man, that is the only explanation.

I honestly didn't know it would work with a sheet of paper on it! I learned something new today.

I look forward to it. Duncan does not.

Speaking of, since I've been slacking on Duncan lately (yeah I suck get over it), here's some other random picture I've been working on occasionally and like most other things I start isn't finished!
Well, this part, the lineart is actually finished:

Yes, going for the Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts style of over the top ridiculous amounts of belts and shiny buckles! Just because I can, and because it looks cool and who cares how impractical it all is!

The coloring is of course incomplete. Its mostly just solid flat colors now, as you can see a bit of at the bottom of the actually completed face here:

I really like the face

Very nice stuff in the last few post!

Edan, that's looking really nice, although I feel like some of the proportions in the body of the girl seem a bit off. It might just be the head in relation to the body, though, but overall it's coming along great.

oops thanks Heretcic.. I almost missed this....

one more question if you don't mind:

would you rather have your art-piece sold to someone who pays more (and never looks at it again... it's just a show off for him...you know when people want some paintings on their factory's wall)......  or have it sold to someone who treasures your art but pays  much much less (but watches your art for hours everyday)??

I'm genuinely curious... thank you!
