Honor Thy Father easily. You can relate to the lyrics when you're angry at someone, but TBOT lyrics are so personal and specifical that you can't relate to them. Also, I've never been able to think of TBOT as a completely original song, because the melody that appears around the 7 minute mark is so strikingly similar to a melody in Stratovarius' Elements.

Honor thy Father. It's heavy and cool and it's a good song. The Best of Times is boring, drawn out and focuses to much on things only Portnoy can relate to. Well at least almost.

TBOT is one of my favorite songs from BC&SL along with TCOT (coincidentially, songs people seem to hate...). It just has lots of emotion, the intro is beautiful, the "thank you for the inspiration" parts of the lyrics make me want to cry and the ending solo is just beautiful. On the other hand, HTF is one of the few DT songs I dislike. It's way too nu metal. I just can't stand it. You know where my vote goes.

Not sure why so many people end up being able to look past TCOT's lyrics, but can't see past TBOT's lyrics.

This.  I really don't like the lyrics of HTF at all.  I would like to know the full story behind that.  I know it was directed at his stepfather and they later made up.  I also know that Portnoy's dad didn't like the song or the lyrics (he said it in a fanclub interview I think).
