Author Topic: iTunes wont load, only DTF can save me! (Read 2532 times)

Well, I'm sure looking more thoroughly at the Apple website could save me as well, but I tried them last night and it did nothing.

Basically, every time I have tried to load up iTunes since the new update (installed yesterday), iTunes hasn't worked, even though when you look at the processes it says that it's up and running.

I have tried: Rebooting, doing a system restore, uninstalling and reinstalling, ending the process and loading it up again, all to no avail.

Please help me DTF, I miss my music

I hate iTunes because it always takes forever to boot up. Better off using Winamp, Foobar, or even Windows Media Player. They're all better than iTunes, and you should be able to access your music on all of them.

I love iTunes though, doesn't normally take this long to boot up, and Windows Movie Player tends to make my computer lag and is more difficult to use v.v

In my experiences iTunes is shit on windows. Just saying.

Seriously, get Winamp. It's the least resource intensive, and it can look sexy as hell with all the different skins available.

Winamp is great if you're using it just to listen to mp3's.

If you have an iPod make sure that winamp doesn't try to sync with it, use iTunes or Transcopy. Winamp corrupted my 160gb 4 times before I caught on that winamp was the culprit. I had to go in and remove the .dll files associated with auto syncing of media devices.

You probably did not properly download the Quicktime update. Google iTunes install error, and you should be able to find ways to fix it. Usually, if you just did an update, and it doesnt work, it's because of Quicktime. Sometimes deleting and then reloading Quicktime works; And some times you just need to go and download the latest Quicktime version and it should work then too. Whenever you get a request for an update from iTunes in the future, just go ahead and accept everything it offers you. It will save a major headache from coming on in the end. Good luck.

It is pretty slick, but use the .m3u files (playlist) if you drag and drop a bunch it may change the order of the songs.

Interesting about the QuickTime update, I always accept it but not the safari update.

i'm an Apple guy and iTunes on Windows is not great.. at all. On the mac it's awesome. Things like having to install new versions of quicktime before you can install iTunes, etc.. are why it's a pain on windows. That doesn't exist on the mac. If you want to update iTunes it updates and it works. But if you use an iPod or iOS device and you use windows it's good to have iTunes on windows i suppose.

That's happened to me a few times. I usually just change the settings to update it manually. Resetting it to automatic a few days later will do the trick.

That's just been in my experience, at least.

Two quick things to check for your Itunes problem:

1) Does the Quicktime player load without a problem?

2) Bonjour is often guilty of messing with your Itunes. Try disabling it for a sec:

- In your Start Menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
- Expand "Services & Applications".
- Open "Services".
- Right-click the BonJour Service and select "Properties". In the "General" tab, set Start-up type to "Disabled".
- Restart the PC, and try launching iTunes again. Does it work now?

Not saying it doesn't but it's a pain in the ass if you don't want to sync your ipod with winamp.
