Honestly I'm not sure how long DT would last in GMD :lol
I assume it would still last quite a while, looking at the top 10 artists thread :)
I bet it'd last longer than Metallica.  Maybe not quite as long as the Backstreet Boys, but you know, not everyone can make music that way.

I guess it depends if it's a survivor or a traditional poll.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Despite a couple of people here constantly insisting everyone know "I don't really listen to DT anymore," I'd imagine DT would still do really well. They're still in the top 2 or 3 every time we do a big poll of something.

Once this happens again, assuming this will be run more than once(maybe an ending survivor to figure out who is the best out of all the rounds), I would love to participate in this. Sounds like a great idea.

When do we start :caffeine:
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

I'll probably get back to it tomorrow.  Shelved it for the weekend and dealing with work stuff today.

No problem. I was just wondering.

Sorry guys.  I'll get back on this today.  I'll generate a random order, and I still need to figure out the mechanics of the draft.  It'd be nice to not have everybody's picks come in random posts all over a 4 page thread.

Alright, I suppose it's time to get off my ass.  Here's the draft order:
   1. Nic35
   2. Ħ
   3. Numbers
   4. Iarwain
   5. Ravenheart
   6. Barto
   7. DTVT
   8. Riceball

It's also available on the first post.

I've thought up a few clever ways of doing the draft, but I've decided on the KISS approach.  We're all smart enough to be able to post in order, so just post your pick here, in order, one at a time.  I'll edit the first post to serve as a master list of what's been picked.  Also,  it'd probably help to pm the guy who's after you that he's "on the clock" so to speak.  Since we all have normal lives, there isn't a time limit, but reminders would probably help.

So, without further ado,  Nic35,  post your first song here, PM Ħ that he's up, and off we go.

Cool, and it's just songs that we should pick, right?

Can we pick certain songs by certain bands that we know will do well?

Yes, it's just songs.

If you want to go the strategic route, it's your lookout.  Me personally,  I'm picking my own list of favorites with little regard for what others might think of them.  I'd prefer this be about people's personal tastes in music, rather than their expectation of others.

Can we still pick song songs from those bands? And is the second round upside down, or in the same order every round?

ACoS, since nobody else wants it.  Honestly thought it would have been first pick.

Sure.  Only songs are eliminated.  I expect several bands will be very well represented here.

I thought about a serpentine draft, but decided it wouldn't really be necessary.  I assumed that after the first round, there wouldn't be too much competition for songs.  If this were a strictly DT draft, then I'd definitely do it serpentine style.

Woah, I'm glad I checked back in haha; didn't know I would be honoured with a place.

Just for the record, I predict 8th spot for me :D

I'm going to play defense and go with "Learning to Live" by Dream Theater.

I'm assuming we are snake drafting, so I'll PM my next pick to El Barto so we can keep things moving.

I'll also PM riceball and tell him he has two picks.

Righteo. I'm not 100% on the reverse order for round two as conflicting things have been said in the thread. So, at this stage I'll give one and if I need to give another I can.

Yeah, me too. I'll make it a point to listen to them all once or twice, though.  Earth Day actually is pretty cool.  A bit long, and the RECYCLE! thing got bit old after a while, but still cool.
